The Agilent N6700 Modular Power System Family is a multiple-output, programmable DC power system built around a mainframe that accepts a mix of plug-in DC power modules. The low-profile N6700 mainframes are 1U-high, multiple-output programmable DC power supply systems that let test system integrators optimize performance, power, and price to match a given test need. The N6705 DC Power Analyzer mainframe extends the same module platform with front-panel sourcing and measurement for the bench.
The family addresses several listed applications. The low-profile mainframes target automated test environments, while the N6705 DC Power Analyzer is positioned for R&D engineers who need to source and measure DC voltage and current into a device under test and gain insight into the DUT's power consumption from the front panel. Within the module range, the Source/Measure Units are aimed at optimizing power consumption and maximizing battery life of battery-powered devices and their components, and the application-specific modules cover battery charge/discharge for mobile device designers and DC power for testing battery-powered (mobile) devices in manufacturing or automated test environments.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. Holding our own stock lets us confirm exactly what is on the shelf and match the right module or mainframe configuration to your test need.
The instruments in this family were issued under the Agilent Technologies brand. Agilent Technologies was established in 1999 from Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business, and its electronic measurement operations subsequently became Keysight Technologies in 2014.
The Agilent N6700 Modular Power System Family pairs a choice of mainframe with a selection of plug-in DC power modules. The module range is organized into DC Power modules (N673xB, N674xB, N677xA), High-Performance modules (N675xA), Precision modules (N676xA), Source/Measure Units (N6781A, N6782A, N6784A), and application-specific modules (N6783A-BAT, N6783A-MFG).
Mainframe choices include the low-profile N6700B, N6701A, and N6702A Modular Power Systems for automated test environments and the N6705A and N6705B DC Power Analyzers for the bench. A power module's available capabilities depend not only on its own hardware but also on the hardware and firmware of the mainframe in which it is installed; modules installed in an N6705 DC Power Analyzer gain front-panel scope view, arbitrary waveform generation, and data logging.
Each pre-owned model in the table below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the specific module or mainframe that fits your configuration to see its current pre-owned availability and price.
The modules differ primarily in output power, voltage and current ratings, and measurement capability. Per-module power ratings run from 20 W up to 500 W, with module voltage ranges spanning 0-5 V to 0-150 V; the 300 W and 500 W High-Performance and Precision modules are double-wide and occupy two channel locations. Autoranging output is available on the High-Performance and Precision modules, and precision voltage and current measurement, low ranges, and simultaneous voltage and current measurement distinguish the Precision modules.
The Source/Measure Units add two-quadrant and four-quadrant operation, battery emulator/charger and CC/CV load functions, and ranges down to a 10 microampere current range, while the application-specific N6783A-BAT and N6783A-MFG provide two-quadrant battery charge/discharge and mobile-device manufacturing test functions. The comparison table that follows lists each model's individual ratings, options, and feature set; refer to each model's own row for its exact capabilities.

Important: Output terminal isolation: no output terminal may be more than ±240 VDC from any other terminal or chassis ground. When using the auxiliary measurement input terminals on the N6781A, no output or input terminal may be more than ±60 VDC from any other terminal and chassis ground.
Important: Power modules require an Agilent N6700-series (N6700B/N6701A/N6702A) or N6705 DC Power Analyzer (N6705A/N6705B) mainframe to operate; a module is not a standalone instrument. The basic capabilities of a power module depend not only on its own hardware but also on the hardware and firmware of the mainframe in which it is installed.
Important: Output current is derated 1% per degree C above 40 degrees C.
Important: Option 760 limits the output current to 10 A on Models N6742B and N6773A. Option 760 is not available on Models N6741B, N6751A, N6752A, N6761A, N6762A, and N6781A - N6784A.
Important: AC mains circuits rated at 100-180 VAC cannot supply enough current to power the N6702A mainframe when operated at its full rated power; when connected to a 100-180 VAC mains, internal circuits limit the power available to modules to 600 W maximum.
Important: N6783A modules cannot be used in series with other N6783A modules or any other N67xx module.
Important: When sinking power, Model N6784A can operate at the maximum rated output power for only a limited amount of time; the unit monitors internal power device temperature and latches the output off if the safe limit is exceeded (annunciated by the OT status bit).
Recommended pairing: these DC power modules install in the Agilent N6700B through N6705B mainframes covered in this series, including the N6705 DC Power Analyzer mainframe for front-panel scope view, arbitrary waveform generation, and data logging.
