The Agilent N6765A is a precision, double-wide DC power module for the Agilent N6700 Modular Power System family. The N6700 Low-Profile Modular Power System (MPS) is a 1U-high, multiple-output programmable DC power supply system that lets test system integrators mix and match from over thirty different DC power and electronic load modules, building a 1- to 4-channel system optimized to match specific test requirements — investing in high-performance outputs where speed and accuracy matter, and basic outputs where simple, economical DC power is all that is needed.
The same modules also run in the Agilent N6705 DC Power Analyzer, a modular instrument that sources and measures DC voltage and current into a device under test. The N6705 combines one to four DC power supplies or electronic loads with the functions of a digital multimeter, oscilloscope, arbitrary waveform generator, and data logger in a single integrated unit, positioned as an entirely new instrument category for R&D engineers — giving insight into a device's power consumption without writing a single line of code, since all sourcing, loading, and measuring functions are available directly from the front panel.
The N6700 MPS is built for automatic test equipment (ATE) systems in R&D, design validation, and manufacturing, where engineers must reduce the rack space occupied by multiple supplies or loads while increasing test-system throughput. Power supplies and electronic loads are a fundamental component of test systems across aerospace and defense, consumer electronics, computers and peripherals, communications, semiconductor, and automotive electronics. The N6705 DC Power Analyzer is intended for R&D testing and design validation at the bench: engineers use it to set up and view turn-on and turn-off sequences, measure and display voltage and current versus time to visualize power into the device under test, control DC bias or electronic-load ramp-up and ramp-down rates, generate DC bias transients and disturbances as arbitrary waveforms, and log data over seconds, minutes, hours, or even days to capture current and power consumption or anomalies. A common task is inrush current measurement: triggering the integrated oscilloscope on the output's on/off key in single-shot mode captures the current flowing into the DUT as the output turns on. While designed primarily as an R&D bench tool, it is fully programmable and LXI Class C certified, which makes it useful in ATE systems for visualizing results as tests execute, for device troubleshooting, and for test development; it mounts in a standard 19-inch rack as a 4U instrument.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, so the instruments we sell are on hand and ready to ship. Every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. This combination of held inventory and in-house verification of pre-owned equipment lets engineers, labs, and production teams buy a modular power system with confidence in both its availability and its condition.
These instruments are branded Agilent Technologies. Agilent Technologies was established in 1999 as a spin-off of the test and measurement business of Hewlett-Packard. In 2014, that electronic measurement business was separated again into a newly formed company, Keysight Technologies, which carries this product line forward today. Equipment bearing the Agilent name reflects this period of the brand's corporate history.
The Agilent N6700 Modular Power System family pairs a choice of mainframe with a selection of plug-in DC power and electronic load modules. The mainframe accepts one to four modules across four slots, and this modular design lets engineers mix and match from over thirty different modules to build a solution optimized for specific test requirements. As test needs change, different modules can be purchased and swapped into the mainframe, so the system grows over time, and the same modules are shared between the bench N6705 DC Power Analyzer and the low-profile N6700 mainframes used in ATE — allowing test correlation and program sharing between R&D and manufacturing.
Mainframe choices include the low-profile N6700B (400 W), N6701A (600 W), and N6702A (1200 W) Modular Power Systems for automated test environments, and the N6705A and N6705B DC Power Analyzers (600 W total available power) for the bench. Buyers who prefer a fully tested, assembled system can order a build-to-order configuration — the N6710B, N6711A, or N6712A low-profile system, or the N6715B DC Power Analyzer — which ships as one mainframe with one to four installed modules. The N6705B rear panel also provides access ports to route high-current wiring for modules rated above 20 A. A power module's available capabilities depend not only on its own hardware but also on the hardware and firmware of the mainframe in which it is installed; modules installed in an N6705 DC Power Analyzer gain front-panel scope view, arbitrary waveform generation, and data logging.
The modules are grouped into series by role: basic DC power modules (the N6730, N6740, and N6770 ranges), high-performance autoranging modules (N6750 series), precision modules (N6760 series), application-specific source/measure units (N6780 series), application-specific battery/mobile modules (N6783A), and DC electronic loads (N6790 series). Each pre-owned model linked below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the mainframe or module configuration that fits your application, and review that page for its specific output ratings and available options.
The module series differ chiefly in performance level and output rating. Basic N6730/40/70 modules provide clean, economical DC power at 50 W, 100 W, and 300 W with outputs up to 150 V and up to 20 A. High-performance autoranging N6750 modules and precision N6760 modules add autoranging outputs that deliver maximum power across a range of voltage and current combinations, lower noise, and faster voltage changes, with available power up to 500 W up to 60 V and up to 50 A; the precision series further provides dual programming and measurement ranges with 16-bit programming and 18-bit measurement precision, low ranges, and simultaneous voltage and current digitizing. The N6780 source/measure units add multi-quadrant operation (two- and four-quadrant), highly accurate measurements down to nanoamperes, battery emulator/charger and CC/CV load functions, and ranges down to a 10 microampere current range at 20 W to 80 W, suited to optimizing power consumption and maximizing battery life of battery-powered devices. The application-specific N6783A-BAT and N6783A-MFG modules (18 W to 24 W) provide two-quadrant battery charge/discharge and mobile-device manufacturing test functions. The N6790 electronic loads absorb rather than source power, at 100 W and 200 W input ratings up to 60 V and 40 A, with constant voltage, current, resistance, and power priority modes and programmable slew rates.
Across the low-profile mainframes, output sequencing can be synchronized between multiple units by wiring the rear-panel I/O ports together — a capability supported on the N6700B, N6701A, and N6702A mainframes and not supported on the discontinued N6700A. The N6702A 1200 W mainframe additionally senses the available AC line power at turn-on and automatically scales back output power to avoid overloading a standard AC outlet, limiting output to 600 W so a high-power mainframe can be plugged into any standard outlet.
Output ratings, ripple and noise, and voltage and current programming and measurement accuracy vary by module, and modules rated at 300 W or more in the high-performance and precision series each occupy two of the four mainframe slots. The comparison table that follows summarizes the mainframe power tiers; the per-model specification tables further down summarize each module's individual ratings so the correct module can be matched to the application.

Important: This is a modular system: a power module is not a standalone instrument and requires an Agilent N6700-series (N6700B/N6701A/N6702A) or N6705 DC Power Analyzer (N6705A/N6705B) mainframe to operate, with at least one DC power module required for the system to function. A power module's basic capabilities depend not only on its own hardware but also on the hardware and firmware of the mainframe in which it is installed.
Important: Front-panel binding posts are rated for 20 A per post; modules with outputs rated greater than 20 A (such as the N6753A or N6792A) route their high-current wiring through the N6705 rear panel. The N6705B mainframe provides rear-panel access ports for this (for an N6705A mainframe, order N6705U-057 to replace the rear panel).
Important: Modules rated ≥ 300 W (the N6753A–N6756A high-performance autoranging and N6763A–N6766A precision double-wide modules) each occupy two of the mainframe's four module slots; all other modules occupy one slot.
Important: The mainframe's total available output power is 600 W. If the sum of the installed module power exceeds 600 W, the mainframe's power management feature allocates available power to the outputs where it is needed.
Important: When configuring a mainframe with fewer than four filled module slots, you must order a filler panel kit (N6708A); each kit contains three filler panels, and every empty module slot must be filled with a filler panel for proper operation.
Important: If you will be rack mounting the N6700, you must order the rack mount kit (N6709A); standard rack rails or slides are not compatible with the N6700 because of its 1U size and airflow requirements.
Important: Output current is derated 1% per °C above 40 °C ambient temperature.
Important: Installing one of the 500 W modules in the 400 W N6700B mainframe may prevent that module from running at its full rated output power.
Important: Output terminal isolation: no output terminal may be more than ±240 VDC from any other terminal or chassis ground. When using the auxiliary measurement input terminals on the N6781A, no output or input terminal may be more than ±60 VDC from any other terminal and chassis ground.
Important: Maximum series operation is 240 V; maximum rated parallel operation is 100 A per N6705.
Important: The N6702A 1200 W mainframe automatically limits output power to 600 W when plugged into a standard AC outlet to prevent overloading the AC line; an AC mains rated at 100–180 VAC cannot supply enough current to power the N6702A at its full rated power, and at that input internal circuits limit the power available to modules to 600 W maximum (full 1200 W on the N6712A build-to-order requires option 929 and 200 VAC operation).
Important: Multi-mainframe output sequencing synchronization is supported on the N6700B, N6701A, and N6702A mainframes; it is not supported on the discontinued N6700A mainframe.
Important: Option 760 (Output Disconnect/Polarity Reversal Relays) limits output current to 10 A maximum on Models N6742B and N6773A, and is not available on Models N6741B, N6751A, N6752A, N6761A, N6762A, and N6781A–N6784A. Option 761 provides output and sense disconnect relays. High-Speed Test Extensions add LIST sequencing and digitizing — standard on the precision, SMU, application-specific, and load modules and optional (option 054) on the basic, high-performance, and 300 W modules.
Important: Option 2UA (200 µA measurement range) is available only on Models N6761A and N6762A.
Important: N6783A modules cannot be used in series with other N6783A modules or any other N67xx module. When sinking power, Model N6784A can operate at the maximum rated output power for only a limited time; the unit monitors internal power-device temperature and latches the output off if the safe limit is exceeded (annunciated by the OT status bit), after which a protect clear is required to resume operation.
Important: Published current/power ratings for Models N6751A and N6752A differ between the datasheet's specification table (page 16: N6751A 50 V/5 A/50 W, N6752A 50 V/10 A/100 W) and the ordering tables (pages 19 and 21: both listed as 50 V/1.5 A/50 W); confirm the installed module's rating from the instrument before relying on maximum output.
Important: This page does not list every power-module specification and characteristic; complete performance specifications and supplemental characteristics for all power modules are in the N6700 Modular Power System Family Specifications Guide, part number N6700-90001.
Recommended pairing: the Agilent 14585A Control and Analysis Software controls up to four N6705 mainframes — up to 16 power and electronic load modules simultaneously — from a single PC, adding enhanced data visualization and management.
