A DC power supply provides controlled, regulated direct-current voltage and current to a device under test, and a multiple-output supply integrates several independent outputs into one chassis. That integration matters in automated test racks where rack units and GPIB addresses are finite resources — putting two, three, or four isolated outputs behind a single GPIB address frees space and addressing for other instruments in the system.
The Agilent Performance DC Power Supplies in this family are positioned for test optimization, with the catalog citing fast up and down programming, proven reliability for keeping test systems running, ease of integration into a system, and extensive protection for devices under test. The Multiple-Output 40W–105W GPIB models (6621A, 6622A, 6623A, 6624A, 6627A) and the Precision Multiple-Output 25W–50W GPIB models (6625A, 6626A, 6628A, 6629A) share the same chassis architecture, SCPI programming, GPIB interface, and active downprogrammer design while differing in output count, output power, and programming/readback precision.
ValueTronics maintains a deep working inventory of legacy Agilent and HP system power supplies — including the 662xA series — at our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Every unit is inspected and performance-verified by our technicians before it ships, rather than passed through unexamined from a supplier. Multi-output GPIB supplies of this generation are commonly maintained in long-running automated test systems where the existing test code is built around specific model numbers and command syntax, and being able to source a verified, documented replacement on the timeline a production facility actually needs is exactly the kind of work we do every day.
The Performance DC Power Supplies in this catalog were originally designed under Hewlett-Packard, then carried forward by Agilent Technologies after the 1999 spin-off of HP's test and measurement business, and subsequently by Keysight Technologies after the 2014 separation of the electronic measurement business from Agilent. Instruments from this product line therefore appear in the field carrying HP, Agilent, or Keysight branding depending on production date, and support documentation traces through that same lineage.
The 662xA family is a set of multiple-output GPIB-programmable DC power supplies sharing a common chassis, SCPI command set, GPIB interface, active downprogrammer, ±240 Vdc float capability, and three-year warranty term. Models differ along three axes that the catalog defines explicitly: the number of outputs (two, three, or four), the wattage class of each output (25W, 40W, 50W, 80W, or 105W), and whether the model is a standard Multiple-Output unit or a Precision Multiple-Output unit with tighter programming and readback specifications.
Standard Multiple-Output models — 6621A, 6622A, 6623A, 6624A, and 6627A — are documented with 19 mV / 50 mV / 35 mV voltage programming accuracy depending on output type, and they target general system power needs at 40W, 80W, and 105W per output. Precision Multiple-Output models — 6625A, 6626A, 6628A, and 6629A — are documented with 1.5 mV / 3 mV / 10 mV voltage programming accuracy on the 25W and 50W outputs, with correspondingly finer current programming and readback for prototype bias control and precision characterization work.
Each model below is its own product page with pre-owned pricing matched to that specific unit. The comparison table that follows is a navigation aid — use it to identify the model that matches the output count and wattage you need for your application, then click through to that model's page for current availability, condition detail, included accessories, and quote options.
The 6621A is the two-output 80W-per-output variant in the standard Multiple-Output family, providing two isolated 0–7V/0–10A (low range) or 0–20V/0–4A (high range) outputs in a single chassis. The 80W output's documented voltage programming accuracy is 19 mV + 0.06% with current programming accuracy of 100 mA + 0.16%, and the output programming response time is 2 ms to settle within 0.1% of full-scale output after a Vset command. The dual-range design makes a single output usable for both low-voltage / high-current rails and higher-voltage / lower-current rails without changing instruments.
Within the standard Multiple-Output family, the 6621A and 6624A both use 80W outputs (the 6624A providing four of them), while the 6622A and a portion of the 6623A use 40W outputs, and the 6623A and 6624A use mixed combinations of 40W and 80W outputs. The 6627A consolidates four 40W 0–20V/0–2A outputs into one chassis. The Special Order Option J03 variant of the 6623A substitutes a 105W 0–35V/0–3A output for one of the standard outputs, extending the family's voltage range without changing the chassis or interface.
The Precision Multiple-Output models occupy a separate tier within the family. Compared to the standard 40W output's 19 mV voltage programming accuracy, the 25W Precision output is specified at 1.5 mV on the low range — roughly an order of magnitude tighter. Constant-current rms ripple is 0.1 mA on the Precision outputs versus 1 mA on the standard outputs. These are different instruments for different jobs: the standard models for general system bias and power delivery, the Precision models for prototype bias, semiconductor characterization, and any application where the resolution of the programming and measurement system is part of what determines the quality of the test result.
