The Agilent 6000 Series Autoranging DC Power Supplies are single-output bench and system power supplies designed to deliver maximum power across a variety of operating points rather than at a single fixed voltage and current pair. The autoranging output characteristic allows one supply to cover a wide span of voltage and current combinations, which the datasheet describes as taking the place of multiple fixed-range power supplies on a test bench or in a test system. The non-GPIB 6010A, 6011A, 6012B, and 6015A models use ten-turn front panel pots for precise local control, while the GPIB-equipped 6030A through 6038A models add SCPI command compatibility and VXIPlug&Play drivers for integration into automated test systems.

According to the datasheet, these supplies are intended to save rack space by using fewer outputs, reduce cost by using fewer power supplies, and — for the non-GPIB models — provide control with external voltage through the analog modulation input. The GPIB models extend this to system-level applications where the datasheet notes that up to 16 power supplies can be connected through one GPIB address via the serial link, and that the supplies have excellent electrical efficiency making them a good choice for large systems. The non-GPIB units can also be connected in auto-parallel or auto-series with their corresponding GPIB unit (6030 Series) as part of a test system.

Brand Heritage

Hewlett-Packard's test & measurement business was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999. In 2014, Agilent further separated its electronic measurement business as Keysight Technologies. Instruments originally branded HP, then Agilent, and now sold or supported by Keysight share a continuous engineering lineage across all three brand names.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The Agilent 6000 and 6030 Series Autoranging DC Power Supplies are a related family of single-output supplies sharing the same autoranging output architecture. The non-GPIB 6010A, 6011A, 6012B, and 6015A models provide front-panel control with ten-turn pots and an analog modulation input. The GPIB-equipped 6030A, 6031A, 6032A, 6033A, 6035A, and 6038A models add SCPI command compatibility, VXIPlug&Play drivers, and serial-link networking for automated test system integration.

Within the family, models are differentiated primarily by voltage range, current range, and maximum power. The 1000 W and 1200 W class supplies (6010A, 6011A, 6012B, 6015A, 6030A, 6031A, 6032A, 6035A) cover voltage ranges from 0–20 V up to 0–500 V depending on the model, while the 200 W class supplies (6033A and 6038A) provide lower-power capability in a half-rack form factor. The 6033A and 6038A also offer the Opt 800 rack-mount kit for two half-rack units side by side.

Each model linked below has its own dedicated product page with pre-owned-matched pricing, current availability, and complete specifications. Click through to the specific model that matches your application's voltage, current, and power requirements.

The primary differentiator within the family is the GPIB and SCPI capability: the 6030 Series adds remote programming, readback, and the ability to network up to 16 supplies through one GPIB address. The non-GPIB 6000 Series models can be auto-paralleled or auto-seried with their corresponding GPIB units as part of a hybrid test system. The 6030 Series also carries a three-year warranty per the datasheet, compared to a one-year warranty on the non-GPIB models.

Voltage and current ratings vary significantly across the family. Customers needing high voltage at lower currents should consider the 0–500 V models (6015A, 6035A). Customers needing high current at lower voltages should consider the 0–20 V, 0–120 A models (6011A, 6031A). Customers needing mid-range capability with high power should consider the 0–60 V models (6012B, 6032A, 6038A) or the 0–200 V models (6010A, 6030A).

Model Output Voltage Output Current Maximum Power
6033A 0 to 20 V 0 to 30 A 242 W
6010A 0 to 200 V 0 to 17 A 1,200 W
6011A 0 to 20 V 0 to 120 A 1,064 W
6012B 0 to 60 V 0 to 50 A 1,200 W
