The R&S ZVA is a vector network analyzer offered as a multi-model series — the R&S ZVA8, R&S ZVA24, R&S ZVA40, R&S ZVA50, and R&S ZVA67 — covering frequency ranges from 300 kHz up to 67 GHz. All models present 50 Ω test ports in two- or four-port configurations and share a common measurement and control architecture for characterizing the magnitude and phase of transmission and reflection on a device under test.
A vector network analyzer measures how a component or network reflects and transmits RF and microwave signals, capturing both magnitude and phase to characterize its behavior across frequency. Beyond standard transmission and reflection measurements, the series supports additional measurement disciplines through named add-on functionality: time domain analysis, frequency conversion and mixer measurements, mixer phase and mixer delay measurement, true differential-mode stimulus, pulsed measurements, and noise figure measurements.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used unit we sell is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
Rohde & Schwarz is an independent, privately held electronics company founded more than 80 years ago and headquartered in Munich, Germany. It has operated under the Rohde & Schwarz name without a major corporate rebranding or acquisition.
The R&S ZVA Vector Network Analyzer is offered as a series of models distinguished principally by frequency coverage: the R&S ZVA8 (to 8 GHz), R&S ZVA24 (to 24 GHz), R&S ZVA40 (to 40 GHz), R&S ZVA50 (to 50 GHz), and R&S ZVA67 (to 67 GHz). Across the series, all models provide 50 Ω test ports in two- or four-port configurations and a shared measurement and control architecture.
The models share core capabilities — up to 60001 measurement points, 1 Hz frequency resolution, measurement bandwidths from 1 Hz to 1 MHz, and a measurement time below 3.5 µs per point — while differing in upper frequency limit, test-port connector type, dynamic range, and available source count.
Each model in the series below has its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing for the pre-owned unit. Select the frequency tier and port configuration that matches your application, then review the per-model specifications on that model's page.
The primary difference across the series is the upper frequency limit, which sets the model number: 8, 24, 40, 50, or 67 GHz. The low-frequency limit is 300 kHz on the R&S ZVA8 and 10 MHz on the higher-frequency models. Test-port connector type also tracks the frequency tier — type N on the R&S ZVA8, 3.5 mm on the R&S ZVA24, 2.92 mm or 2.4 mm on the R&S ZVA40, 2.4 mm on the R&S ZVA50, and 1.85 mm on the R&S ZVA67.
Models are further configurable by number of test ports (two or four) and, on the four-port versions, by number of internal sources (two or four). Dynamic range and maximum test-port output power also vary by model and frequency band. The comparison table below summarizes these per-model differences.
| Model | Frequency Range | Test Port Connector | Max Dynamic Range (typ.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZVA24 | 10 MHz to 24 GHz | 3.5 mm, male, ruggedized | 135 dB (typ.) |
| ZVA8 | 300 kHz to 8 GHz | type N, female | 140 dB (typ.) |
| ZVA40 | 10 MHz to 40 GHz | 2.92 mm or 2.4 mm, male, ruggedized | 140 dB (typ.) |
| ZVA50 | 10 MHz to 50 GHz | 2.4 mm, male, ruggedized | 140 dB (typ.) |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: EMC emission per EN 55011 / CISPR 11 group 1 class A: the instrument is intended for industrial environments and may not be operated in residential, commercial, or small-business areas unless additional measures are taken to ensure EN 55011 class B compliance.
Important: Measurement accuracy and effective system data are conditional on the use of a suitable calibration kit (e.g. R&S®ZV-Z270 for ZVA8, R&S®ZV-Z235 for ZVA24, R&S®ZV-Z229 for ZVA40, R&S®ZV-Z224 for ZVA50, R&S®ZV-Z218 for ZVA67); the calibration kit is required to achieve the specified effective system data and is not part of the standard instrument.
Important: Frequency points, measurement bandwidth and sweep time must be identical for measurement and calibration (no interpolation allowed) for the stated measurement accuracy to apply.
Important: Data without tolerance limits is not binding and is subject to change.
