The WaveSurfer 4000HD is a family of High Definition Oscilloscopes that extends Teledyne LeCroy's HD4096 12-bit oscilloscope line. The series pairs a bright 12.1" capacitive touch screen running the MAUI with OneTouch interface with four analog channels and a model range spanning 200 MHz to 1 GHz of analog bandwidth. Built around HD4096 technology, each model captures with 12 bits of vertical resolution all the time, giving 4096 discrete vertical levels instead of the 256 levels of a conventional 8-bit oscilloscope.
Teledyne LeCroy positions the HD4096 technology for general-purpose design and debug as well as high-precision analog sensors, power electronics, automotive electronics, mechatronics, and other specialized applications. The instrument is presented as an embedded-system debug tool, with workflows that include power rail analysis, clock analysis, protocol analysis, and power-conversion analysis of buck, boost, and LDO stages found in a typical embedded power tree.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own test-and-measurement inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, so the instruments we list are equipment we keep on hand rather than items we source on demand.
LeCroy Corporation, founded in 1964, was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2012 and has operated since then under the Teledyne LeCroy name. The oscilloscope products carry that combined branding today.
The WaveSurfer 4000HD family comprises four High Definition Oscilloscopes — the 4024HD, 4034HD, 4054HD, and 4104HD — that share a common platform and differ primarily in analog bandwidth. All four use HD4096 technology for 12-bit vertical resolution, provide four analog channels, run the MAUI with OneTouch interface on a 12.1" capacitive touch screen, and deliver 2.5 GS/s on four channels (5 GS/s on two) with 12.5 Mpts of standard memory per channel.
Because the models are built on the same architecture, the choice between them is driven by the bandwidth and timing performance each tier provides rather than by interface or feature differences. The options ecosystem — MSO, spectrum analyzer, power analysis, the WaveSource generator, and serial decode bundles — applies across the family.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing for the new configuration you select. Compare the bandwidth and timing rows in the table that follows to identify the WaveSurfer 4000HD model that fits your application, then open that model's page for new availability.
The four models step through analog bandwidth at 200 MHz (4024HD), 350 MHz (4034HD), 500 MHz (4054HD), and 1 GHz (4104HD), with rise times correspondingly improving from 1.75 ns to 1 ns, 700 ps, and 450 ps. Effective number of bits also shifts with bandwidth, from 8.7 on the 4024HD down to 8.3 on the 4104HD, and the vertical noise floor and channel-to-channel isolation figures vary by model as shown in the comparison table.
Shared specifications hold steady across the series: four input channels, 12-bit resolution, 5 GS/s peak sample rate (2 Ch), 12.5 Mpts/Ch standard memory, the 12.1" touch screen, ProBus probe support, and the full connectivity set. Refer to the comparison table for the exact per-model bandwidth, rise time, ENOB, and noise-floor values.
| Model | Bandwidth | Rise Time (10–90%) | ENOB |
|---|---|---|---|
| WaveSurfer 4024HD | 200 MHz | 1.75 ns | 8.7 |
| WaveSurfer 4034HD | 350 MHz | 1 ns | 8.6 |
| WaveSurfer 4054HD | 500 MHz | 700 ps | 8.5 |
| WaveSurfer 4104HD | 1 GHz | 450 ps | 8.3 |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input voltage: 50 Ω input, 5 Vrms; 1 MΩ input, 400 V max (DC + peak AC ≤ 10 kHz).
Important: The 16 digital (Mixed Signal) channels require the WS4KHD-MSO option; the WaveSource Arbitrary Waveform Generator requires the WS4KHD-FG option.
Important: The Digital Voltmeter (4-digit DVM) and 5-digit Frequency Counter license can be downloaded at no charge from teledynelecroy.com/ws4000hd/redeemdvm.
Important: Bandwidth upgrades can be made at any time; contact your local Teledyne LeCroy sales office.
Usage tip: pair the oscilloscope with the Teledyne LeCroy RP4030 Active Power Rail Probe for native, low-noise probing of low-impedance power rails in the power rail analysis workflow.
