The Agilent U2722A/U2723A USB Modular Source Measure Unit is a three-channel SMU that combines voltage and current programming with high-accuracy readback in a compact, USB-controlled package. More than a power supply, it offers fast response time and is capable of four-quadrant operation, acting as both a current source and a current sink (load) across both polarities of the output voltage. The U2723A is an enhanced version of the U2722A, adding embedded test scripts and faster rise time to help improve throughput during mass testing of semiconductor components.
Four-quadrant operation across ±20 V and ±120 mA makes the U2722A/U2723A well suited to a wide range of test applications, including leakage measurement, solar cell measurement, forward and reverse voltage characterization, and curve-tracing transistors. Working with the supporting parametric software, the SMU performs basic semiconductor testing on discrete devices such as diodes, bipolar junction transistors, and field effect transistors — a capability applied both as a teaching tool in education and for manufacturing and troubleshooting in the semiconductor industry.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Orders ship from instruments we keep on hand, and every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it leaves our facility, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
This instrument carries Agilent Technologies branding. Agilent began as the test-and-measurement business of Hewlett-Packard, which was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999; in 2014 Agilent's electronic measurement business was established as Keysight Technologies.
The U2722A/U2723A family consists of two three-channel USB modular source measure units that share the same four-quadrant architecture (±20 V, ±120 mA), measurement ranges, accuracy, and 100 pA / 16-bit sensitivity. Both can act as a power supply, a current source, and a current sink across both polarities of the output voltage.
The U2723A is the enhanced version of the U2722A. It adds embedded test scripts for pre-defining and duplicating test configurations, IV Curve application support in the Agilent Measurement Manager software, and faster rise time to help improve throughput during mass testing of semiconductor components.
Each model below links to its own dedicated product page with pre-owned-matched pricing. Select the model whose capabilities fit your application, then review availability and configuration on that page.
The two models differ primarily in automation and speed. The U2722A delivers the full three-channel, four-quadrant source-and-measure capability, while the U2723A adds embedded test scripts — two memory lists per channel, each storing up to 200 commands and results — plus IV Curve application support, simplifying automated and repeated test sequences.
The U2723A also provides faster rise and fall times across the current ranges, shortening settling during high-volume component testing. The comparison table below details the per-range rise/fall time figures and the feature differences between the two models so you can match the right unit to your throughput requirements.
