The Keysight U1600 Series is a line of handheld digital oscilloscopes that combine a dual-channel scope, a 6,000-count true RMS digital multimeter, and a real-time data logger in a single portable instrument. Built around a 4.5-inch color LCD that clearly distinguishes waveforms between its two channels, the series is positioned as a high-performance troubleshooting and quality-assurance tool for technical professionals working in installation, maintenance, service, and automotive environments.

The series is intended for the demanding conditions of today's industrial environments, giving installation, maintenance, service, and automotive technicians one rugged tool for both waveform and meter measurements. Beyond fully featured oscilloscope operation, the integrated true RMS DMM and real-time data logger let a technician capture, measure, and record a sequence of readings without carrying separate instruments to the job.

ValueTronics stocks and holds the U1600 Series in our own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, rather than sourcing each order on demand. Because we physically hold our inventory, every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house against the original manufacturer specifications before it ships, while new units leave factory-sealed exactly as received. Buying from a specialist that keeps the equipment on its own shelves means faster fulfillment and verified condition on every used instrument.

Brand Heritage

The U1600 Series carries a measurement lineage that traces back to Hewlett-Packard in 1939. Hewlett-Packard's test-and-measurement business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and that business became Keysight Technologies in 2014 — the brand under which these instruments are produced today.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The Keysight U1600 Series brings oscilloscope, true RMS digital multimeter, and real-time data logger capability together in a single handheld instrument designed for field and bench troubleshooting. The series comprises the U1602B and U1604B, each a dual-channel scope paired with a 6,000-count true RMS DMM and built around the same 4.5-inch color display.

Across the series, both models share a real-time sampling rate of up to 200 MSa/s, up to 125,000 points of recording length, advanced triggering, and USB 2.0 connectivity with PC Link software. The two models are distinguished primarily by their bandwidth and a small set of analysis features.

Each pre-owned model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model and configuration that fits your application, and review the comparison table to confirm bandwidth and feature differences before ordering.

The principal difference between the two models is bandwidth: the U1602B provides DC to 20 MHz, while the U1604B extends to DC to 40 MHz. That difference carries through to rise time, specified at under 17.5 ns on the U1602B and under 8.8 ns on the U1604B, and to the horizontal timebase, which reaches 50 ns/div on the U1602B and 10 ns/div on the U1604B.

The U1604B additionally provides an FFT function with four windowing techniques and a 2.5 GSa/s equivalent sampling rate for repetitive signals, neither of which is part of the U1602B specification. Both models otherwise share the same dual-channel acquisition, 200 MSa/s real-time sampling, 125,000-point memory, and integrated true RMS DMM, as detailed in the comparison table below.

Model Bandwidth Rise Time Timebase Resolution
U1602B 20 MHz < 17.5 ns 2 ns
U1604B 40 MHz < 8.8 ns 400 ps

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum scope input: CAT III 300 Vrms (up to 400 Hz) from terminal to ground.
Important: Auxiliary measurements (temperature and ampere) require additional accessories that are offered as optional and are not included with the standard instrument.
Important: Temperature measurement requires the U1586B Temperature module (or U1586A), which is available as an option and is not supplied with the standard instrument.
Important: Up to 10 waveform and configuration setups can be stored in internal memory and recalled; this can only be done on the instrument and the data is not extracted to a USB drive.
Important: The 200 MSa/s sampling rate is only available at the 125 ns/div timebase.
Recommended pairing: add the U1586B temperature module (used with the U1181A, U1182A, or U1183A probes) to enable Type-K temperature measurements through the instrument's DMM inputs.
