The Tektronix TPP-series passive voltage probes — the TPP1000, TPP0500B, TPP0502, and TPP0250 — are high-bandwidth, general-purpose probes that offer breakthrough specifications previously unrealized in this product class. They provide up to 1 GHz of analog bandwidth with less than 3.9 pF of capacitive loading and are designed for use with Tektronix MDO3000, MDO4000B, MSO/DPO4000B and MSO/DPO5000B Series oscilloscopes.
Listed applications for the series span low-power devices, service, manufacturing engineering test, and research and development. A passive voltage probe connects an oscilloscope to the device under test, scaling the measured signal so the instrument can display it accurately.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, keeping units on hand and ready to ship.
The TPP family consists of four high-bandwidth, general-purpose passive voltage probes — the TPP1000, TPP0500B, TPP0502, and TPP0250 — that share a 300 V CAT II input rating, a 1.3 m cable, and the TekVPI interface while differing in bandwidth and attenuation factor.
Three of the models (TPP1000, TPP0500B, and TPP0250) use 10X attenuation with 10 MΩ input impedance and under 4 pF of input capacitance. The TPP0502 instead uses 2X attenuation with 2 MΩ input impedance and 12.7 pF of capacitance, the configuration suited to low-voltage measurements such as power-supply ripple.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with new-condition pricing. Select the model that matches your bandwidth and attenuation requirement to view its specifications and current new availability.
Within the family, the TPP1000 provides the highest bandwidth at 1 GHz with a 10X attenuation factor, 10 MΩ / <4 pF tip input impedance, and the TekVPI interface.
The models differ principally in bandwidth and attenuation. Bandwidth steps from 250 MHz on the TPP0250, through 500 MHz on both the TPP0500B and TPP0502, to 1 GHz on the TPP1000.
Attenuation is 10X on the TPP1000, TPP0500B, and TPP0250, and 2X on the TPP0502, which also differs in tip input impedance (2 MΩ, 12.7 pF versus 10 MΩ, <4 pF on the 10X models). See the comparison table for the per-model values.
| Model | Bandwidth | Attenuation | Input Impedance |
|---|---|---|---|
| TPP0502 | 500 MHz | 2X | 2 MΩ |
| TPP1000 | 1 GHz | 10X | 10 MΩ |
| TPP0500B | 500 MHz | 10X | 10 MΩ |
| TPP0250 | 250 MHz | 10X | 10 MΩ |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
