The Tektronix TDS700D family comprises the TDS794D, TDS784D, TDS754D, and TDS724D Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes, introduced as the first in the TDS family of Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes (DPOs). A Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope captures, stores, displays, and analyzes three dimensions of signal information in real time: amplitude, time, and the distribution of amplitude over time. This third dimension conveys signal dynamics — instantaneous changes and the frequency of occurrence — as quantitative intensity information, helping the user's eye integrate the subtle patterns and variations of actual signal behavior.

These instruments are applied to communication compliance testing, digital design and debugging, jitter and timing analysis, fast edge characterization, video design and debug, disk drive measurements, and power measurements. The high waveform capture rate works alongside high bandwidth and sample rate to surface signals that other oscilloscopes may be missing, with DPO acquisition gathering over 1,000 times more data than traditional DSOs to capture complex signals and reduce debugging time from hours to seconds.

ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, so the instrument you order is on hand rather than sourced on demand. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.

Brand Heritage

Tektronix, Inc., founded in Oregon in 1946, has retained its brand name throughout its history. The company was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007 and has been part of Fortive Corporation since Fortive's 2016 spinoff from Danaher.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The TDS700D family consists of four Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes — the TDS794D, TDS784D, TDS754D, and TDS724D — introduced as the first DPOs in the TDS line. All members share a familiar front-panel layout with dedicated vertical, horizontal, and trigger controls, plus a graphical user interface with over 200 icons, a color monitor, and built-in online help.

The models differ primarily in bandwidth, channel count, and sampling performance, while sharing the same DPO acquisition architecture, measurement system, triggering modes, and TEKPROBE accessory ecosystem. Selecting among them is a matter of matching bandwidth and channel requirements to the application.

Each pre-owned model in the family below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Choose the specific TDS700D model that matches your bandwidth and channel requirements to see its current pre-owned availability and price.

The four models separate along bandwidth and channel lines. The TDS794D provides 2 GHz bandwidth across four channels; the TDS784D provides 1 GHz across four channels; the TDS754D provides 500 MHz across four channels; and the TDS724D provides 500 MHz with two channels plus two auxiliary inputs. Maximum real-time single-channel sample rate reaches 4 GS/s on the TDS794D and TDS784D and 2 GS/s on the TDS754D and TDS724D, and equivalent-time sampling reaches 250 GS/s on the two higher-bandwidth models versus 100 GS/s on the others.

Input configurations also differ: the TDS794D operates with 50 Ω input (DC coupling only) and sensitivity from 10 mV/div, rated 5 VRMS with peaks ≤±20 V, while the TDS784D, TDS754D, and TDS724D add 1 MΩ input and AC coupling, with sensitivity from 1 mV/div and a 300 V CAT II (±400 V peak) input rating. Record length is 50 K points standard on all models, expandable with Option 1M and Option 2M up to 8 M points on the TDS794D, TDS784D, and TDS754D and up to 4 M points on the TDS724D. The comparison table below summarizes these per-model differences.

Model Bandwidth Channels Max Sample Rate
TDS784D 1 GHz 4 4 GS/s
TDS794D 2 GHz 4 4 GS/s
TDS754D 500 MHz 4 2 GS/s
TDS754D 500 MHz 4 2 GS/s

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
