The Tektronix TDS5000B Series is a family of digital phosphor oscilloscopes (DPO) positioned as midrange benchtop instruments. Built on Tektronix DPX acquisition technology, a DPO captures, stores, and analyzes complex signals in real time using three dimensions of signal information — amplitude, time, and the distribution of amplitude over time — to provide insight into signal behavior. The series spans 350 MHz, 500 MHz, and 1 GHz bandwidth models in 2- and 4-channel configurations.
An oscilloscope displays electrical signals as waveforms — voltage plotted against time — letting an engineer see a signal's amplitude, frequency, timing, and shape. The TDS5000B Series is applied to digital design and debug; mask testing for telecomm, datacomm, and video standards; investigation of transient phenomena; power measurements; and video design and debug. Additional listed applications include DVD, jitter and timing, and spectral analysis, automotive electronics, manufacturing test, electro-mechanical, bio-medical, and industrial control work.
We stock the instruments we sell in our own 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house by our technicians before it ships, while new units leave factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. That combination of owned inventory and hands-on verification is what lets us stand behind condition and availability.
Tektronix, Inc. was founded in 1946 in Oregon and has operated under its own name throughout its history as a test-and-measurement manufacturer. It was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007 and, following the 2016 spinoff of Fortive Corporation from Danaher, became part of Fortive.
The TDS5000B Series is a single family of digital phosphor oscilloscopes whose models share the same DPX acquisition core, MyScope interface, OpenChoice Windows 2000 platform, and 53-measurement analysis system, differing primarily in bandwidth, channel count, and sample-rate configuration. The series is offered in 350 MHz, 500 MHz, and 1 GHz bandwidth models, in 2- and 4-channel versions.
Because the family shares one feature set and software architecture, the choice between models comes down to the bandwidth, channel count, sample rate, and record length each configuration provides, as detailed in the comparison table below.
Each pre-owned model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the specific model and configuration that fits your application; the capabilities described here apply across the family unless a model's own row in the table indicates otherwise.
The TDS5104B is the 1 GHz, 4-channel member of the series, sampling at up to 5 GS/s with a 300 ps calculated rise time at 5 mV/div — the fastest in the family — making it the highest-bandwidth configuration the TDS5000B Series offers.
Across the family, analog bandwidth steps from 350 MHz (TDS5032B/TDS5034B) to 500 MHz (TDS5052B/TDS5054B/TDS5054BE) to 1 GHz (TDS5104B), and the trailing digit of the model number indicates the 2- or 4-channel configuration. Calculated rise time at 5 mV/div correspondingly improves from 1.15 ns at 350 MHz to 800 ps at 500 MHz to 300 ps at 1 GHz.
The TDS5054BE is a distinct 500 MHz, 4-channel variant that samples at 1 GS/s across its channels rather than the 5 GS/s of the other models, and certain software options are not offered on it. Standard record length and maximum sample rate also vary by model and channel count; see the comparison table for each model's exact figures.
| Model | Bandwidth | Channels | Sample Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| TDS5054B | 500 MHz | 4 | 5 GS/s |
| TDS5032B | 350 MHz | 2 | 5 GS/s |
| TDS5034B | 350 MHz | 4 | 5 GS/s |
| TDS5052B | 500 MHz | 2 | 5 GS/s |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input voltage, 1 MΩ: 150 V CAT I, ≤400 V peak; derate at 20 dB/decade to 9 V RMS above 200 kHz.
Important: Please specify power plug and manual version when ordering.
Important: Option FHD (front panel removable hard drive) has no upgrade path and must be ordered at the time of initial purchase; it replaces the FDD and internal HDD.
Important: Option CP2 (TDSCPM2 ANSI/ITU telecom pulse compliance testing software) requires Option SM.
Important: A cooling clearance of 3 inches (76 mm) is required on the left side of the instrument.
Recommended pairing: integrate the oscilloscope with the Tektronix TLA5000 Series logic analyzer via iView for time-correlated viewing of digital and analog data in one display.
