The Tektronix TDP1500, TDP3500 and TDP4000 are differential-ended active probes engineered for truer signal reproduction and fidelity in high-frequency measurements. Built with ultra-low input capacitance and versatile device-under-test connection capabilities, they deliver the high-speed electrical and mechanical performance demanded by today's digital system designs. Each model connects directly to and draws power from oscilloscopes equipped with the TekVPI probe interface, forming an integrated scope-and-probe measurement system.
These probes are intended for the design, validation, debugging, and characterization of common high-speed serial bus designs, including I2C, CAN/LIN, SPI, Serial ATA, Ethernet (GbE), USB 2.0, and FireWire (1394b). They also support signal integrity, jitter, and timing analysis, and are applied across manufacturing, engineering, and test environments.
That means real inventory under our control and people who know the instruments behind every order.
Tektronix, Inc. has marketed test and measurement instruments under the Tektronix name for decades. The company was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007 and, following Danaher's 2016 spinoff of its test and measurement businesses, has operated as part of Fortive Corporation, continuing to sell under the Tektronix brand.
The TDP1500, TDP3500 and TDP4000 form a family of differential-ended active probes that share a common TekVPI interface and measurement architecture while differing in bandwidth and front-end loading. All three deliver truer signal reproduction and fidelity for high-frequency, high-speed serial and digital measurements, connecting directly to and drawing power from TekVPI interface oscilloscopes.
Across the family, the probes share common-mode rejection of greater than 60 dB at 1 MHz and greater than 25 dB at 1 GHz, automatic units scaling and readout, AutoZero offset nulling, and remote GPIB/USB control through the oscilloscope. The choice between models comes down to required bandwidth and the input loading and voltage characteristics summarized below.
Each model below is listed as its own dedicated new product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the specific model and condition that fits your application to see availability and pricing for that new unit.
The models are separated primarily by bandwidth: 1.5 GHz on the TDP1500, 3.5 GHz on the TDP3500, and 4 GHz on the TDP4000, with rise times of ≤265 ps (TDP1500), ≤140 ps (TDP3500), and ≤125 ps (TDP4000). Front-end loading also differs — the TDP1500 presents ≤1 pF differential input capacitance and 200 kΩ differential input resistance, while the TDP3500 and TDP4000 present ≤0.3 pF and 100 kΩ.
Maximum non-destruct input voltage is ±25 V (DC + peak AC) on the TDP1500 versus ±15 V on the TDP3500 and TDP4000. Attenuation is 1X/10X on the TDP1500 and 5X on the TDP3500, and the TDP1500 offers a wider common-mode input range (±7 V) and differential input dynamic range than the TDP3500/TDP4000 (+5 V to -4 V, ±2 V). These differences are detailed in the comparison table below.
| Model | Bandwidth | Differential Input Capacitance | Differential Input Resistance |
|---|---|---|---|
| TDP4000 | ≥4 GHz | ≤0.3 pF | 100 kΩ |
| TDP1500 | ≥1.5 GHz | ≤1 pF | 200 kΩ |
| TDP3500 | ≥3.5 GHz | ≤0.3 pF | 100 kΩ |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum non-destruct input voltage: ±25 V (TDP1500) and ±15 V (TDP3500/TDP4000), DC + peak AC.
Important: These probes connect directly to and are powered from oscilloscopes with the TekVPI™ probe interface; a TekVPI-interface oscilloscope is required for operation, and no external power supply is needed.
