The Tektronix TAP2500, TAP3500, and TAP4000 are single-ended active FET probes engineered to deliver the high-speed electrical and mechanical performance required by today's digital system designs. Designed specifically for direct connection to oscilloscopes with the TekVPI probe interface, the series pairs ultra-low input capacitance with a dedicated probe interface to provide truer signal reproduction and fidelity for high-frequency measurements.
These probes are built for the verification, debug, and characterization of high-speed designs, along with signal integrity, jitter, and timing analysis. They also support manufacturing engineering and test, and are suited to measuring signals with voltage swings up to 8 Vp-p.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois.
The TAP2500, TAP3500, and TAP4000 form a family of single-ended active FET probes that share a common architecture and differ primarily in bandwidth. All three are designed for direct connection to oscilloscopes with the TekVPI probe interface and target the high-speed electrical and mechanical performance needed for digital system designs.
Across the family, the probes share ≤0.8 pF input capacitance, 40 kΩ input resistance, 10X attenuation, a ±4 V input dynamic range, a ±10 V input offset range, and a ±30 V (DC + peak AC) maximum non-destructive input voltage. The compact 7.6 mm probe head and SMD attachment down to 0.5 mm pitch are common to every model.
Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model that matches your required bandwidth, and review that page's specifications and availability before ordering.
The models are distinguished chiefly by bandwidth and rise time. The TAP2500 is the 2.5 GHz active probe, the TAP3500 is the 3.5 GHz active probe, and the TAP4000 is the 4 GHz active probe. Warranted rise time (probe only) is <140 ps for the TAP2500 and <130 ps for the TAP3500, while the TAP4000 has a typical rise time of ≤115 ps.
Refer to the comparison table that follows for the per-model bandwidth and rise-time figures. The remaining electrical, mechanical, and environmental characteristics apply to all three models.
| Model | Bandwidth | Rise Time | Attenuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| TAP4000 | ≥4 GHz | ≤115 ps | 10X |
| TAP2500 | ≥2.5 GHz | <140 ps | 10X |
| TAP3500 | ≥3.5 GHz | <130 ps | 10X |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum non-destructive input voltage: ±30 V (DC + peak AC).
Important: These active probes connect directly to, and are powered directly by, oscilloscopes with the TekVPI™ probe interface; a compatible oscilloscope is required for operation and is not included.
Recommended pairing: use the SMA-to-Probe tip adapter (015-0678-xx) listed among the recommended accessories for coaxial signal connections.
