The Tektronix TAP1500 is a 1.5 GHz single-ended active FET probe designed for direct connection to oscilloscopes equipped with the TekVPI probe interface. It is built to deliver the high-speed electrical and mechanical performance required by today's digital system designs, achieving high-speed signal acquisition and measurement fidelity by addressing three traditional probing problems: lowering DUT loading effects, providing versatile connectivity to small surface-mount devices, and preserving instrument bandwidth at the probe tip for oscilloscopes of 1 GHz and below.
An active probe buffers the signal at the probe tip to minimize the loading a measurement instrument places on the circuit under test. The TAP1500's listed applications include high-speed digital systems design, component design and characterization, manufacturing engineering and test, and educational research. It is intended for signals with voltage swings up to 16 Vp-p.
ValueTronics supports the TAP1500 from our own 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our own inventory rather than sourcing each order on demand. Every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
The TAP1500 is offered both as a single 1.5 GHz active probe and as the TAP1500X2, a discounted two-probe package containing two TAP1500 units. Both share the same single-ended active FET architecture, the same TekVPI interface, and the same electrical and mechanical specifications.
Selecting between the single probe and the two-probe package is primarily a matter of how many channels you need to instrument with active probing on a TekVPI-equipped oscilloscope, rather than any difference in performance between the units.
Each pre-owned option below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the configuration that matches your channel count, then choose the page that reflects the condition and price you need.
The TAP1500X2 does not include individual probe cases; users who want an individual probe case are directed to order the standalone TAP1500 probe.
The functional difference between the two ordering choices is quantity and packaging: the TAP1500 is a single probe supplied with its standard accessory set and nylon carrying case, while the TAP1500X2 bundles two probes at a package discount.
Because the TAP1500X2 omits the individual probe cases included with the standalone TAP1500, buyers who require a case per probe should account for that when comparing the two configurations in the table that follows.

Important: Maximum input voltage (nondestruct): ±15 V (DC + peak AC).
Important: The TAP1500 connects directly to and is powered by oscilloscopes with the TekVPI probe interface; a TekVPI-equipped oscilloscope is required to use the probe.
Important: For best probe support, download and install the latest version of the oscilloscope software from www.tektronix.com.
Important: Manual language must be specified when ordering.
Important: The TAP1500X2 does not include individual probe cases. Users who desire the individual probe case should order the TAP1500 probe.
Recommended pairing: the TekVPI Calibration Fixture (067-1701-xx) and IC Micro-grabbers (013-0309-xx) are listed among the probe's recommended accessories.
