The Hioki BT4560 is a Battery Impedance Meter that performs electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements quickly and easily in applications ranging from R&D to manufacturing. It delivers high-precision measurement capability for the quality control of high-capacity batteries, and it can be expanded into an evaluation system for efficiently measuring multiple batteries. A LAN interface simplifies the process of building a testing system.
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measures a battery's impedance across a broad frequency range using small AC signals, yielding detailed insights into characteristics such as internal resistance and electrode reactions — information that aids the understanding of battery behavior and performance in R&D and quality-control work. The BT4560 is applied to the R&D, manufacturing, and quality control of the high-capacity batteries used in EVs and ESSs. In automatic testing it supports cell screening using zero-cross points, the accumulation of data for degradation diagnostics, analysis of the causes of cell and module defects, and improved reproducibility of testing through low-frequency measurement that reduces the effects of eddy currents.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. That combination of held inventory and in-house verification lets us match the right instrument to your application and ship it with confidence.
The BT4560 is the core of a scalable EIS measurement system. As a compact bench-top instrument it performs single-channel impedance, voltage, and temperature measurement without requiring a separate electronic load device, making it well suited to R&D and laboratory evaluation. The same instrument can be expanded into a multi-channel solution for production-line testing, so one platform covers both ends of the battery development workflow.
Multi-channel expansion uses multiplexer circuitry designed specifically for impedance measurement, which helps reduce measurement error. Pairing the 6-channel Multiplexer Module SW9002 with a Switch Mainframe lets the system grow to match the desired test-system size while maintaining an 11 ms channel switching time, supporting shorter test times and reliable testing systems.
Each new configuration is offered on its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing, so you can select the single-channel instrument or a multi-channel system and the exact condition that fits your budget and application.
The BT4560 itself distinguishes a 0.1 μΩ impedance resolution and DC voltage accuracy of ±0.0035% rdg. ±5 dgt. with simultaneous impedance, voltage, and temperature measurement — capability aimed at the high-capacity batteries used in EVs and ESSs, where internal impedance can fall below 1 mΩ.
The principal difference between system configurations is channel capacity. A standalone BT4560 performs single-channel measurement; adding the Switch Mainframe SW1001 provides 3 multiplexer slots for up to 18 channels of 4-terminal-pair measurement, while the SW1002 provides 12 slots for up to 72 channels. The comparison table that follows summarizes these configuration options.
Both switch mainframes share the same 6-channel SW9002 multiplexer module, an 11 ms channel switching time, and the same standard control software that performs EIS measurement, displays Nyquist plots in real time, and supports data logging. The choice between them comes down to the number of batteries to be measured simultaneously, as reflected in the slot and channel counts in the table.

Important: Measurement probes are not included with this product; select and purchase the measurement probe options appropriate for your application separately.
Important: Clamp fixtures are special-ordered options; please contact Hioki for assistance.
Important: The 4-Terminal Probe L2000 cannot be used with the 3 mΩ range when connected to the BT4560, and no combined accuracy is defined for it.
Recommended pairing: choose the Clip-Type Probe L2002 for laminated batteries or the Pin-Type Probe L2003 for various battery shapes, and add the Z2005 temperature sensor for simultaneous temperature measurement.
