The Rohde & Schwarz R&S SMA100A is an RF signal generator covering 9 kHz up to 3 GHz or 6 GHz, depending on the installed RF path option. It combines excellent signal quality, high output power, and a comprehensive analog modulation suite — amplitude, frequency/phase, and pulse modulation — in a compact two-height-unit chassis with a color display and an intuitive user interface that graphically shows the signal flow as a block diagram.

The instrument is positioned for production use, where very short frequency and level setting times — under 1.5 ms and 1 ms respectively, and under 450 µs in List mode — along with Fast Hopping support, keep test throughput high. For aerospace and defense work it offers a pulse modulator, an integrated pulse generator, and optional avionics modulation including VOR, ILS, marker beacon, ADF, and DME. As an all-purpose instrument it provides frequency, level, and LF sweeps together with phase-continuous frequency setting.

Important: Maximum permissible reverse RF power at the RF output (f > 1 MHz): 50 W from 1 MHz to 3 GHz and 10 W from 3 GHz to 6 GHz with the R&S SMA-B103/-B106 option, and 0.05 W with the R&S SMA-B103L/-B106L option.
Important: The base unit must be ordered together with an R&S SMA-B103/R&S SMA-B106 or R&S SMA-B103L/R&S SMA-B106L frequency option.
Important: The R&S SMA-K26 (DME Modulation) option can be installed in an R&S SMA100A with serial number 101500 or higher.
Important: Standard delivery includes power cable, Quick Start Guide and CD-ROM (with operating and service manual).
Recommended pairing: the R&S NRP-Z81 wideband power sensor, listed for use with the R&S SMA-K26 DME modulation and R&S SMA-K28 power analysis options.
