Both configurations share identical measurement specifications, the same 30 to 130 dB range, the same ±1.4 dB basic accuracy, the same ANSI and IEC 61672-1 Type 2 compliance, and the same SD card data logging capability. The distinction is the calibration documentation supplied with the unit at the time of shipment.

The selection between SDL600 and SDL600-NIST is governed by whether the receiving organization requires NIST-traceable calibration documentation at the time of delivery. Quality systems that require calibration traceability for measurement instruments will typically specify the SDL600-NIST configuration.
Both configurations are otherwise identical in measurement performance, accessories supplied (6 AA batteries, SD card, wind screen, and hard carrying case per the datasheet), and accessory compatibility with the 407744 and 407766 sound calibrators and the 153117 and UA100-240 AC adaptors.
