The R&S RTM3000 is a series of bench oscilloscopes built around a Rohde & Schwarz 10-bit analog-to-digital converter and a 10.1-inch capacitive touch display at 1280 × 800 pixel resolution. Rohde & Schwarz positions the series as an X-in-1 instrument, combining an oscilloscope with a logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, protocol analyzer, frequency response analyzer, arbitrary waveform generator, pattern generator, counter and digital voltmeter in a single chassis.
Rohde & Schwarz identifies the series as a fit for R&D debugging of power supplies, R&D debugging of serial buses, manufacturing test and repair, and education. Consolidating multiple instrument functions into one unit is aimed at engineers and technicians who need to troubleshoot and solve a wide range of problems with one instrument.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois.
Rohde & Schwarz is a privately held company founded in Munich, Germany in 1933, and has operated under the Rohde & Schwarz name ever since.
The R&S RTM3000 family comprises two base models that share the same core architecture: the two-channel R&S RTM3002 and the four-channel R&S RTM3004. Both are built on the same 10-bit ADC, 10.1-inch capacitive touch display and acquisition engine, so the measurement experience is consistent regardless of channel count.
Bandwidth is selected separately as an option, spanning 100 MHz, 200 MHz, 350 MHz, 500 MHz and 1 GHz across the series. With the mixed-signal option, either model can add 16 digital channels, turning the instrument into a combined analog-and-digital troubleshooting platform.
Each new model linked below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the R&S RTM3002 or R&S RTM3004 page that matches the channel count and bandwidth option you need, and review its specifications and pricing there.
The primary difference between the two models is analog channel count: the R&S RTM3002 provides two analog channels, while the R&S RTM3004 provides four. The bandwidth options carry model-specific order codes — for example, the 200 MHz upgrade is R&S RTM-B222 on the RTM3002 and R&S RTM-B242 on the RTM3004, with parallel codes for the 350 MHz, 500 MHz and 1 GHz tiers.
Beyond channel count and bandwidth code, the two models share the same memory depth, sample rate, display and option ecosystem. Refer to the comparison table below for the per-model specifications and available bandwidth options.
| Model | Analog Channels | Digital Channels | Max Bandwidth |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTM3004 | 4 | 16 (with MSO option) | 1 GHz |
| RTM3002 | 2 | 16 (with MSO option) | 1 GHz |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Key Specifications | |
| Bandwidth | 100 MHz, 200 MHz, 350 MHz, 500 MHz, 1 GHz |
| Channels | 2 or 4 analog channels + 16 digital channels (with MSO option) |
| ADC | 10-bit |
| Max sample rate | 5 Gsample/s (interleaved), 2.5 Gsample/s (all channels) |
| Memory | 40 Msample, 80 Msample (interleaved), 400 Msample history (optional with R&S®RTM-K15) |
| Display | 10.1" capacitive touch, 1280 × 800 pixel resolution |
| Boot time | 10 seconds |
| Connectivity | LAN, USB host/device, fast display over Ethernet |
| Upgradeable | Bandwidth, protocol trigger and decode, MSO, pattern generator and arbitrary waveform generator |
| Probe interface | Probe power and auto configuration |
| Warranty | Standard 3-year |
| X-in-1 Oscilloscope | |
| Oscilloscope | Standard |
| Logic analyzer (16-channel MSO) | R&S®RTM-B1 option. MSO option includes cabling, lead sets and grabbers. |
| Spectrum analyzer | R&S®RTM-K18 option. Spectrogram. |
| Protocol analyzer | Options via serial bus |
| Pattern generator (4 bits) | R&S®RTM-B6 option |
| Integrated digital voltmeter | Standard |
| Waveform generator (25 MHz) | R&S®RTM-B6 option |
| Frequency response analyzer | R&S®RTM-K36 option, Bode plot |
| Trigger counter | Standard |
Important: The MSO option adds 16 digital channels and includes cabling, lead sets and grabbers.
Important: The 16 digital channels require the mixed-signal (MSO) option R&S®RTM-B1; the base oscilloscope provides analog channels only (per "16 digital channels (with MSO option)" and "Logic analyzer (16-channel MSO): R&S®RTM-B1 option").
Important: 400 Msample history mode is optional and requires the R&S®RTM-K15 option.
Important: Pattern generator (4 bits) and the 25 MHz waveform generator require the R&S®RTM-B6 option.
Important: Data without tolerance limits is not binding.
Usage tip: for switched-mode power-supply debugging, the R&S RT-ZPR20 power rail probe (2.0 GHz, ±60 V offset) is among the probes listed for this series.
