The Rohde & Schwarz R&S RTA4004 is a four-channel benchtop oscilloscope built around a Rohde & Schwarz-designed 10-bit analog-to-digital converter, paired with class-leading low noise, ultra-deep memory and high timebase accuracy. It is positioned as more than a waveform viewer: the platform combines oscilloscope measurements with a logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, spectrum analyzer, a waveform and pattern generator and a digital voltmeter, all reachable through a large, high-resolution capacitive touchscreen with the R&S SmartGrid user interface.
An oscilloscope captures voltage waveforms over time and displays them on a screen, letting an engineer see a signal's amplitude, frequency, timing and shape. For the R&S RTA4004, the applications called out include everyday debugging and troubleshooting, characterization of switched-mode power supplies where the voltage across the switching device must be resolved during on/off times, EMI debugging, power integrity work such as measuring ripple and periodic and random disturbances (PARD), power analysis, and efficient debugging of serial buses in embedded designs.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, which keeps fulfillment and condition control in our own hands.
Rohde & Schwarz is an independent, family-owned company headquartered in Munich, Germany, founded more than 80 years ago. It has operated under the Rohde & Schwarz name without a major corporate renaming or acquisition.

Important: Maximum input voltage: 300 V (RMS), 400 V (peak) at 1 MΩ (derates at 20 dB/decade to 5 V (RMS) above 250 kHz); 5 V (RMS), 30 V (peak) at 50 Ω.
Important: The bandwidth can be upgraded up to 1 GHz via keycode; the waveform and pattern generator (R&S®RTA-B6) and MSO (R&S®RTA-B1) capabilities are built-in and just need to be activated.
Important: The R&S®RTA-B1 MSO option additionally contains two logic probes with 16 digital channels.
Important: The R&S®RTA-PK1 application bundle is not distributed in North America; the R&S®RTA-PK1US application bundle is only distributed in North America.
Important: Warranty: base unit 3 years; all other items 1 year. For installed options, the remaining base unit warranty applies if longer than 1 year; all batteries have a 1 year warranty.
Recommended pairing: for frequency response (Bode plot) analysis, the low-noise R&S RT-ZP1X 38 MHz bandwidth 1:1 passive probes are recommended to reduce measurement noise and provide the best SNR.
