The Advantest R3132/3162 is a series of swept spectrum analyzers built for versatile measurement across a broad frequency range. The R3132 covers 9 kHz to 3 GHz and the R3162 extends coverage to 8 GHz, and the series can be tailored to a given task through a selection of available options.
The series is positioned for applications such as Cable TV, EMC measurement, and digital mobile communications. For EMI precompliance work, 6-dB bandwidth filters for 9 kHz, 120 kHz, and 1 MHz are equipped as standard along with a QP detector, and an optional 200 Hz narrow resolution bandwidth filter can be added. ACP and OBW functions support evaluation of the transmission characteristics of radio systems, and the instrument can also measure the attenuation characteristic of filters or the frequency characteristic of cables when the optional tracking generator is fitted.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received, so buyers know precisely what they are getting either way.
Advantest Corporation traces its roots to Takeda Riken, the Japanese instrument maker that adopted the Advantest name in 1985.
The R3132/3162 series comprises swept spectrum analyzers that share a common platform while differing chiefly in frequency coverage. The R3132 spans 9 kHz to 3 GHz, while the R3162 extends the upper limit to 8 GHz across multiple frequency bands. A 75Ω input variant, the R3132N, is offered for applications calling for 75Ω matching.
All models can be customized through the same set of options and share the series' core measurement architecture, including internal automatic calibration, the 6.5-inch TFT color LCD, a built-in frequency counter, and standard GPIB and RS-232 interfaces.
Each pre-owned model listed below is its own product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model whose frequency coverage and input impedance match your application, then choose the pre-owned listing that fits your requirements.
The primary difference across the series is frequency range: the R3132 reaches 3 GHz, while the R3162 reaches 8 GHz using banded coverage (Band 0 from 9 kHz to 3.4 GHz, Band 1- from 3.2 GHz to 7.5 GHz, and Band 1+ from 6.5 GHz to 8 GHz). The input attenuator range also differs, spanning 0 to 50 dB on the R3132 and 0 to 75 dB on the R3162.
Input impedance is the other distinguishing factor: the R3132 and R3162 present a nominal 50Ω input, while the R3132N provides a nominal 75Ω input. The comparison table below details the per-model frequency, attenuation, and impedance figures.
| Model | Frequency Range | Input Impedance | Input Attenuation Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| R3132N | 9 kHz to 3 GHz | 75 Ω | 0 to 50 dB |
| R3132 | 9 kHz to 3 GHz | 50 Ω | 0 to 50 dB |
| R3162 | 9 kHz to 8 GHz | 50 Ω | 0 to 75 dB |

Important: Maximum input level: +30 dBm (input ATT ≥ 5 dB).
Important: For EMI precompliance measurement, 6-dB bandwidth filters for 9 kHz, 120 kHz and 1 MHz as well as a QP detector are equipped as standard; the 200 Hz narrow RBW filter is available as an option.
Important: A tracking generator (100 kHz to 3 GHz) is available only as an option for measuring filter attenuation or cable/amplifier frequency response; it is not included in the standard configuration.
Important: High-speed time domain measurement (50 µs sweep) for mobile communications is an optional function and is not part of the standard sweep range (standard sweep time 20 ms to 1000 s).
