The Tektronix TDP1000, TDP0500, and P6251 are high-voltage differential probes that deliver the high-speed electrical and mechanical performance required for switch-mode power supply (SMPS), CAN/LIN bus, and high-speed digital system designs. Each probe connects directly to compatible Tektronix oscilloscopes and resolves differential signals with measurement fidelity by combining outstanding electrical performance, versatile device-under-test connectivity, and ease of use.
A differential probe measures the voltage between two points in a circuit, neither of which need be at ground potential — essential for the floating and high-side measurements common in power electronics. These probes are applied to high-speed switch-mode power supply design, CAN/LIN bus design, digital design and characterization, manufacturing engineering test, and research and development.
Tektronix, founded in 1946, operated as an independent test and measurement company for decades before being acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007. Since Fortive Corporation's 2016 spinoff from Danaher, Tektronix has operated as part of Fortive.
The TDP1000, TDP0500, and P6251 form Tektronix's family of high-voltage differential probes, sharing a common electrical core — ≤1 pF typical differential input capacitance, 1 MΩ differential input resistance, ±42 V (DC + pk AC) differential input range, 5X/50X attenuation, and ±2% DC gain accuracy — while differing in bandwidth and oscilloscope interface.
All three address the same measurement challenges in switch-mode power supply, CAN/LIN bus, and high-speed digital design, pairing high-speed signal acquisition with versatile device-under-test connectivity and on-scope ease of use.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the new listing that matches the bandwidth and oscilloscope interface your bench requires.
The TDP1000 is the 1 GHz model in the family with the TekVPI probe interface, delivering ≤350 ps rise time and supporting selectable bandwidth-limiting filters of 100 Hz, 10 kHz, 1 MHz, and Full. Its differential input offset range is ±42 V at both 5X and 50X attenuation.
Bandwidth is the primary differentiator: the TDP1000 and P6251 are 1 GHz probes with ≤350 ps rise time, while the TDP0500 is a 500 MHz probe with under 700 ps rise time. The TDP1000 and TDP0500 use the TekVPI probe interface; the P6251 uses the TekProbe-BNC Level II interface and connects to TekConnect oscilloscopes through a TCA-BNC adapter.
The models also differ in selectable bandwidth filter limits (100 Hz, 10 kHz, 1 MHz, and Full for the TDP1000 and TDP0500 versus 5 MHz and Full for the P6251) and in differential input offset range (±42 V at 5X or 50X for the TDP1000 and TDP0500, versus ±4.25 V at 5X and ±42 V at 50X for the P6251). See the comparison table for the per-model specifications.
| Model | Bandwidth | Rise Time | Probe Interface |
|---|---|---|---|
| P6251 | 1 GHz | ≤350 ps | TekProbe-BNC Level II |
| TDP1000 | 1 GHz | ≤350 ps | TekVPI |
| TDP0500 | 500 MHz | <700 ps | TekVPI |

Important: When using MSO/DPO2000/B series oscilloscopes, the TekVPI power supply (Tektronix part number 119-7465-xx) and power cable are required.
Important: Standard warranty: 1 year parts and labor.
Important: For the P6251, the 1103 TEKPROBE power supply may be required to power the probe when used with non-TekProbe interface instrumentation; a TCA-BNC adapter is required to connect to TekConnect oscilloscopes.
