The P6139B and P5050B are 500 MHz, high-impedance 10X passive voltage probes with 10 MΩ input resistance. Both feature a small probe head and a sharp tip that makes it easier to probe dense circuitry, and a small probe body that improves visibility to the device under test. The two models share similar electrical specifications but support Tektronix oscilloscopes with different compensation ranges.
A passive voltage probe connects a circuit node to an oscilloscope input while minimizing the loading the measurement places on the circuit. These probes are intended for low power devices, service, manufacturing engineering, and test research and development applications.

Tektronix, Inc. was acquired by Danaher Corporation in 2007. In 2016, Tektronix became part of Fortive Corporation when Fortive was spun off from Danaher.
The P6139B and P5050B form a pair of 500 MHz, 10X passive voltage probes that share a common electrical design. Both deliver a 10 MΩ, 8 pF input impedance at the probe tip, a 300 V CAT II dynamic range, and a 1.3 m cable, paired with a compact probe head and sharp tip for probing dense circuitry.
The two models are differentiated by the compensation range they support, which determines the Tektronix oscilloscopes each is matched to. Selecting between them is a question of host-oscilloscope compatibility rather than a difference in core probe performance.
Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model whose compensation range matches your oscilloscope, then choose the listing that fits your requirement.
The P6139B and P5050B are electrically alike — both are 500 MHz, 10X passive probes with 10 MΩ, 8 pF tip impedance and a 300 V CAT II rating. The defining difference is the compensation range: the P6139B covers 8 pF to 18 pF, while the P5050B covers 16 pF to 22 pF. This determines which Tektronix oscilloscope compensation ranges each probe supports.
Because the models differ in supported compensation range rather than headline performance, the right choice depends on the host oscilloscope. The comparison table below lists the compensation range and shared characteristics for each model so the correct probe can be matched to the target oscilloscope.
| Model | Bandwidth | Attenuation | Input Impedance |
|---|---|---|---|
| P6139B | 500 MHz | 10X | 10 MΩ, 8 pF |
| P5050B | 500 MHz | 10X | 10 MΩ, 8 pF |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Characteristics | |
| Attenuation | 10X |
| Dynamic Range | 300 V CAT II |
| Bandwidth | 500 MHz |
| Input Impedance at the Probe Tip | 10 MΩ, 8 pF |
| Compensation Range | 8 pF to 18 pF |
| Cable Length | 1.3 m |
Important: Maximum input voltage: 300 V CAT II.
Important: The P6139B and P5050B share similar electrical specifications but support Tektronix oscilloscopes with different compensation ranges (P6139B: 8 pF to 18 pF; P5050B: 16 pF to 22 pF). Reference the Oscilloscope Probe & Accessory Selector Tool at www.tektronix.com/probes to ensure the correct probe is selected for your oscilloscope.
Important: The P6139B and P5050B feature the TekProbe Interface for direct BNC connection to oscilloscopes with 1 MΩ inputs.
