The Tektronix Passive High Voltage Probe series comprises the P5100, P5102, P5120, and P6015A — passive probes for measuring high voltages with oscilloscopes and plug-ins. The P5100 is a low-input-capacitance high voltage probe rated to 2.5 kV, designed for higher-frequency applications. The P6015A is the heavy-duty member of the family, intended for measurements over 2.5 kV. The P5102 and P5120 provide isolated-channel measurement when paired with their companion oscilloscope series.

This series targets power electronics measurement work. The listed applications are power supply design, motor drive design, electronic ballast, power semiconductors, switch mode control, UPS systems, and power converters.

ValueTronics stocks this equipment in its own 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified by our technicians in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The Passive High Voltage Probes family groups four Tektronix probes — the P5100, P5102, P5120, and P6015A — into a single passive high-voltage measurement series for power electronics work. The lineup ranges from the low-input-capacitance P5100, designed for higher-frequency applications up to 2.5 kV, to the P6015A, described as the industry standard for heavy-duty measurements over 2.5 kV.

Two members, the P5102 and P5120, are isolated-channel probes intended to pair with specific Tektronix handheld and portable oscilloscope series, isolating the measurement from earth ground and isolating common voltage between channels.

Each pre-owned model in this series is offered on its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the specific model that matches your measurement requirements; the comparison table below summarizes how the probes differ.

The probes differ primarily in bandwidth, attenuation, maximum rated input voltage, and compensation range. Bandwidth spans 75 MHz on the P6015A to 250 MHz on the P5100; attenuation factors are 10X on the P5102, 20X on the P5120, 100X on the P5100, and 1,000X on the P6015A. Maximum inputs range from 1,000 VRMS CAT II on the isolated-channel P5102 and P5120 to 2.5 kV (DC + peak AC) on the P5100 and 20 kV DC / 40 kV peak on the P6015A.

The P5102 and P5120 add channel-to-channel and earth-ground isolation for use with the THS700 and TPS2000 Series respectively, while the P6015A offers length and readout configuration options. Refer to the comparison table for each model's bandwidth, rise time, loading, maximum input and float voltage, and compensation range.

Model Attenuation Bandwidth Max Input Voltage
P5102 10X 100 MHz 1,000 VRMS CAT II
P5100 100X 250 MHz 2.5 kV (DC + Pk AC); 1,000 V CAT III
P5120 20X 200 MHz 1,000 VRMS CAT II
P6015A 1000X 75 MHz 20 kV

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
