The Keysight N8900 Series is a family of autoranging, single-output programmable DC power supplies engineered for ATE applications that require flexible voltage and current combinations from a single instrument. The series consists of 28 models spanning 5 kW, 10 kW, and 15 kW output power, with output coverage from 80 V to 1500 V and 20 A to 510 A. Fourteen models accept 208 VAC three-phase input and fourteen accept 400 VAC three-phase input, allowing deployment in any major regional power environment.

The defining characteristic of the N8900 Series is its autoranging output. Conventional rectangular-output DC supplies deliver full rated power at only one voltage/current combination; outside that point, available power drops. An autoranging supply expands the usable power envelope, so a single N8900 model covers a wide range of voltage and current operating points at full rated power. For example, a 1000 V, 30 A, 10 kW model can deliver 1000 V at 10 A or 333.3 V at 30 A — both at the full 10 kW rating.

ValueTronics International has supplied professional test and measurement equipment to engineers, calibration labs, and ATE integrators since 1992. All inventory — including programmable DC power supplies in the N8900 family — is stocked and tested in our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Equipment is inspected and verified in-house before shipment, and configuration questions on autoranging supplies, parallel master/slave setups, and interface options are answered by staff who handle these units directly rather than routed to a drop-ship partner.

Brand Heritage

Keysight Technologies was established in 2014 as the test and measurement spin-off from Agilent Technologies, which itself was formed in 1999 when Hewlett-Packard separated its instrumentation business from its computing business. The N8900 Series power supplies are part of the Keysight DC power product line that traces its engineering heritage through this Agilent and Hewlett-Packard lineage.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The N8900 Series is organized into 28 models defined by three primary axes: maximum output power (5 kW, 10 kW, or 15 kW), AC input voltage (208 VAC or 400 VAC three-phase), and output voltage/current rating. Every model in the family shares the same autoranging output characteristic, the same standard interface set (LAN, USB, GPIB, analog), the same 3U form factor, and the same protection feature set. The differences between models are confined to the output ratings and the AC input voltage selection.

The 208 VAC models (N8920A through N8937A) are designated for nominal 187–229 VAC input regions. The 400 VAC models (N8940A through N8957A) are designated for nominal 360–440 VAC input regions. Within each input-voltage group, the 5 kW, 10 kW, and 15 kW power tiers each offer multiple voltage/current combinations — for example, the 5 kW tier covers 80 V/170 A, 200 V/70 A, 500 V/30 A, and 750 V/20 A. Selecting the correct model is a matter of matching the required output envelope and the available AC input.

Each new N8900 model linked from this page has its own dedicated product listing with condition-matched pricing, current availability, and the specific model's output ratings and AC input requirement. Use the comparison table to identify the model that matches your application, then open the individual model page for pricing and ordering detail.

Across the family, output voltage ratings span 80 V, 200 V, 500 V, 750 V, 1000 V, and 1500 V. Output current ratings scale inversely with voltage at each power tier. At 5 kW, current ratings range from 20 A on the 750 V model to 170 A on the 80 V model. At 10 kW, current ratings range from 30 A on the 1000 V model to 340 A on the 80 V model.

AC input current draw and inrush current scale with the power tier. The 5 kW models draw 2 × 32 A on 208 VAC or 2 × 16 A on 400 VAC with 41 A (208 VAC) or 28 A (400 VAC) inrush. The 10 kW models draw 2 × 32 A + 1 × 56 A on 208 VAC or 2 × 16 A + 1 × 28 A on 400 VAC with 97 A (208 VAC) or 49 A (400 VAC) inrush. The 15 kW models draw 3 × 56 A on 208 VAC or 3 × 28 A on 400 VAC.

Model Max Voltage Max Current Max Power
N8923A 500 V 30 A 5 kW
N8920A 80 V 170 A 5 kW
N8921A 200 V 70 A 5 kW
N8924A 750 V 20 A 5 kW

Regulatory Compliance
EMC Complies with European EMC Directive for test and measurement products; Complies with Australian standard and carries C-Tick mark; Complies with Canadian ICES-001
Safety Complies with European Low Voltage Directive and carries the CE-marking; Complies with US and Canadian safety regulations; Not applicable for IT mains supply systems
Important: Not applicable for IT mains supply systems. Series operation is not recommended; for higher power, use parallel master/slave operation of identical (same model number) units, up to ten in parallel.Important: Line cords and terminations (plugs) are not included. Due to the number of different line cords and terminations around the world, the N8900 power supplies do not come with line cords or terminations. Users will need to supply their own dependent on the local laws and codes of the country/region where the power supply will be used.Important: AC input voltage selection: If the AC input voltage where the power supply will be used is 187 to 229 VAC, choose a 208 VAC model (N8920A-N8937A); if 360 to 440 VAC, choose a 400 VAC model (N8940A-N8957A).Important: Series operation is not recommended.Important: Safety compliance: Not applicable for IT mains supply systems.Important: Parallel operation requires identical units (same model number); up to ten units can be connected in parallel for greater output current.Recommended pairing: the N8958A Rack Mount Kit for installation in Keysight racks. For non-Keysight racks, standard rack rails are used. Line cords and terminations are not included and must be supplied locally per regional codes.
