The Keysight N5239B, N5231B, and N5232B are PNA-L Series vector network analyzers offered in 2-port and 4-port configurations. The N5239B covers 300 kHz to 8.5 GHz, the N5231B covers 300 kHz to 13.5 GHz, and the N5232B covers 300 kHz to 20 GHz, with 4-port test sets available on the N5231B and N5232B. Each model is configured through a base test-set option (Option 200 for 2-port, Option 400 for 4-port) or an extended-power-range option (Option 216 or 416) that adds front-panel jumpers and source attenuators.
A network analyzer measures the magnitude and phase response of components and devices as a function of frequency, characterizing reflection and transmission behavior through S-parameters. These instruments support reflection (Sii) and transmission (Sij) measurements along with group delay, which is computed from the phase change within a specified frequency aperture. In segment sweep mode the analyzer can output a higher power level on predefined frequency segments for devices with high insertion loss, and reduced power where the maximum receiver input level would otherwise be reached.
ValueTronics supports the PNA-L Series from its own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our inventory on hand. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
Keysight Technologies carries forward a test-and-measurement lineage that began at Hewlett-Packard. HP's instrument business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and Agilent's electronic measurement business became Keysight Technologies in 2014.
The PNA-L Series comprises three models — the N5239B, N5231B, and N5232B — that share a common vector-network-analyzer architecture and differ primarily in upper frequency limit. All three are offered as 2-port instruments, and the N5231B and N5232B are additionally available as 4-port instruments.
Each model is ordered with a base test-set option (Option 200 for 2-port, Option 400 for 4-port) or an extended-power-range option (Option 216 or 416) that adds front-panel jumpers and source attenuators. These options determine the available power range, direct receiver access, and front-panel jumper configuration.
Each pre-owned model linked below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the frequency coverage and port count your application requires, then choose the pre-owned unit that fits your budget and timeline.
The three models are separated by maximum frequency: the N5239B reaches 8.5 GHz, the N5231B 13.5 GHz, and the N5232B 20 GHz, all starting at 300 kHz. Port count is the second axis — a 2-port test set is available across the family, while 4-port test sets are exclusive to the N5231B and N5232B.
Within each model, option suffixes set the power and access configuration: Options 200 and 400 are base 2-port and 4-port test sets, while Options 216 and 416 add source attenuators and front-panel jumpers for extended power range and direct receiver access. Refer to the comparison table for per-model frequency, port, and option details.
| Model | Frequency Range | Port Configurations | Maximum Settable Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| N5232B | 300 kHz to 20 GHz | 2-port or 4-port (Option 200/216/400/416) | 30 dB |
| N5239B | 300 kHz to 8.5 GHz | 2-port (Option 200/216) | 30 dB |
| N5231B | 300 kHz to 13.5 GHz | 2-port or 4-port (Option 200/216/400/416) | 30 dB |
