The Keysight Infiniium MXR B-Series is a family of mixed signal oscilloscopes spanning twelve models with bandwidth options from 500 MHz to 6 GHz, in 4-channel and 8-channel configurations. Built around a 10-bit ADC delivering 16 GSa/s on all analog channels simultaneously, the platform integrates eight instruments into a single chassis: an oscilloscope, optional 16-channel logic analyzer, optional real-time spectrum analyzer, serial protocol analysis, a 50 MHz arbitrary waveform generator, a 50 MHz frequency response analyzer, a 4-digit digital voltmeter, and triple counters with totalizer. The system uses a 100M+ gate CMOS ASIC derived from the Keysight UXR B-Series to hardware-accelerate core oscilloscope operations.
The MXR B-Series is designed for signal integrity testing on high-speed digital interfaces, power supply and power rail analysis, power management IC characterization, industry-specific serial protocol debugging across more than 50 supported protocols, and compliance testing against published standards including USB 2.0, multiple Ethernet variants, Automotive Ethernet, MIPI C-PHY and D-PHY, and JEDEC DDR3/LPDDR3. The integrated real-time spectrum analyzer view supports RF analysis applications from ZigBee through 5G FR1, with up to eight phase-coherent channels available for simultaneous digital down-conversion. The platform supports both 1 MΩ and 50 Ω input paths, expanding compatibility across passive, active, current, differential, and power rail probes.
Keysight Technologies traces its test and measurement lineage directly to Hewlett-Packard's instrumentation business, which was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999. In 2014, Agilent separated its electronic measurement business into a standalone company, Keysight Technologies, while Agilent retained its life sciences and chemical analysis instruments. Oscilloscopes carrying the HP, Agilent, and Keysight names share the same engineering lineage.
The Infiniium MXR B-Series spans twelve models across six bandwidth tiers — 500 MHz, 1 GHz, 2 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 4 GHz, and 6 GHz — with each tier available in either a 4-channel or an 8-channel configuration. All models share the same underlying platform: 16 GSa/s sample rate on all analog channels, 10-bit ADC resolution, 200 Mpts standard memory per channel, and the 8-in-1 integrated instrument architecture.
Because the underlying hardware is common across the family and bandwidth is enabled by software license, every model is factory-calibrated to 6 GHz. This allows post-purchase bandwidth upgrades to any higher tier without recalibration outside the normal interval, and channel count upgrades from 4 to 8 channels via a service center procedure.
Each new model in the family below is listed as its own product page with its own pricing. Click through to any specific model to view its current availability, accessory configuration, and ordering details.
The MXR608B sits at the top of the family with 6 GHz analog bandwidth across all 8 channels, the maximum analysis bandwidth offered by the platform. It is the model that exercises the full hardware capability of the MXR B-Series ASIC and front-end design.
The primary axis of differentiation across the MXR B-Series is analog bandwidth, which steps from 500 MHz through 1, 2, 2.5, 4, and 6 GHz on the 50 Ω input path. The 1 MΩ input path is limited to 500 MHz across all models. Typical rise time scales with bandwidth, ranging from 860 ps (10/90%) on the 500 MHz models to 71.7 ps on the 6 GHz models.
The second axis is channel count: every bandwidth tier is available in either a 4-channel (MXRx04B) or an 8-channel (MXRx08B) configuration. The 4-channel and 8-channel variants share the same sample rate, memory architecture, and integrated instruments. Other characteristics such as intrinsic jitter and power dissipation differ modestly between the 4- and 8-channel models per the datasheet's published values. Refer to the comparison table for the specific bandwidth, rise time, and configuration of each model in the family.
