The Tektronix 4 Series MSO is a mixed signal oscilloscope built around FlexChannel technology, available with four or six inputs. Each FlexChannel can be used as a single analog channel displayed as a waveform view, a spectrum view, or both simultaneously, or as eight digital logic inputs when a TLP058 logic probe is attached. The series pairs a 13.3-inch high-definition display with a capacitive multi-touch, pinch-swipe-zoom user interface, bringing analog, digital, and frequency-domain analysis together in one instrument.

An oscilloscope captures electrical signals as waveforms — voltage plotted against time — letting an engineer verify a signal's amplitude, frequency, shape, and timing. The 4 Series MSO is applied to embedded systems, three-phase power electronics, automotive electronics, power supply design, and DC-to-DC power converters, applications that frequently require observing more than four analog signals at once to verify and characterize device performance and to debug system-level issues. The four- and six-channel models provide the additional analog visibility these multi-signal measurements demand.

ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every pre-owned unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer. Holding inventory directly means the instrument you order is on our own shelves and ready to move.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The 4 Series MSO is offered as two models — the four-channel MSO44 and the six-channel MSO46 — that share the same FlexChannel architecture, 13.3-inch high-definition display, acquisition system, and touch-driven user interface. The series is designed to give better visibility into complex systems, with each FlexChannel input usable as one analog signal or eight digital logic inputs.

Both models offer the same selectable analog bandwidths — 200 MHz, 350 MHz, 500 MHz, 1 GHz, and 1.5 GHz — and every model can be upgraded to a higher bandwidth in the field after purchase. The primary distinction between the two is the number of FlexChannel inputs and the resulting analog and digital channel counts.

Each pre-owned model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model that fits your channel-count and bandwidth needs, then choose the available condition and configuration on that model's page.

The MSO44 provides four FlexChannel inputs — up to four analog channels and, with TLP058 logic probes, up to 32 digital channels. The MSO46 provides six FlexChannel inputs — up to six analog channels and up to 48 digital channels. Both share the 6.25 GS/s sample rate, 31.25 Mpoint standard record length (62.5 Mpoints optional), and 12-bit ADC, as the comparison table below details.

Optional three-phase electrical analysis is available on the MSO46 only, reflecting its six analog inputs. Aside from channel count and that option, the two models track each other across bandwidth choices, triggering, analysis tools, and connectivity — refer to the comparison table for the per-model figures.

Model FlexChannel Inputs Max Analog Channels Max Digital Channels
MSO46 6 6 48
MSO44 4 4 32

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input voltage: 300 V RMS at 1 MΩ; 5 V RMS with peaks not exceeding ±20 V at 50 Ω. Auxiliary Trigger input rated ≤300 V RMS (Edge Trigger only).
Important: Digital channels require TLP058 logic probes, which are ordered separately; each TLP058 provides eight digital inputs in place of one analog channel (Step 7, Add digital probes). The MSO44 accepts 1 to 4 TLP058 probes (8 to 32 digital channels) and the MSO46 accepts 1 to 6 TLP058 probes (8 to 48 digital channels).
Important: Option 4-SEC (enhanced security) must be purchased at the same time as the instrument; it is not available as an upgrade.
Important: Option 4-PWR-BAS is not compatible with option 4-PS2.
Important: The HDMI output requires connection to a high definition (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) display, and the monitor must be attached before powering on the instrument.
Important: 500 µV/div is a 2X digital zoom of 1 mV/div or a 4X digital zoom of 2 mV/div, depending on the instrument bandwidth configuration.
Important: The Arbitrary/Function Generator is optional and upgradable; the Digital Voltmeter (DVM) and Trigger Frequency Counter are free with product registration.
Important: Spectrum View is optional on the analog inputs (simultaneous analog and spectrum views); RF time-domain traces and RF triggering require option 4-SV-RFVT.
Important: Three-Phase Electrical Analysis (option 4-3PHASE) is supported on the MSO46 (six-channel) model only.
