The B&K Precision MPS Series is a modular DC power supply platform built around a 1U mainframe that accepts up to four interchangeable output modules. Two mainframe options are available — the MPS1000 with 600 W total available power and the MPS1001 with 1200 W — and eight module variants cover 15 V, 32 V, 60 V, and 100 V output ranges in either 100 W multi-range or 300 W fixed-range configurations. Mainframes and modules are sold separately and user-assembled, allowing each system to be configured to specific application requirements.
The MPS Series is designed for ATE system applications in R&D, production test, and manufacturing operations that require multiple DC outputs from a single rack unit. The compact 1U form factor with included rack-mount kit supports repetitive testing and validation workflows where bench space and throughput matter. Supplementary PC software is available for generating test sequences, logging voltage/current/power measurements, and — when paired with a compatible DC electronic load — performing battery charge/discharge cycle testing.
ValueTronics maintains the MPS Series — both mainframes and the full module catalog — in our 20,000 sq ft secure facility at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Because the MPS platform is sold as separate mainframes and modules requiring user assembly, working with a stocking distributor who understands the configuration matters: we can quote a complete system with the right module mix for your voltage and current requirements, confirm compatibility before shipment, and provide application support across the full series.
The MPS Series is organized around two mainframe models and eight module variants. The mainframes — MPS1000 (600 W) and MPS1001 (1200 W) — share the same 1U form factor, four-slot architecture, and complete interface set (USB, LAN, GPIB); they differ in total available output power and AC line input requirements. The modules divide into two families: 100 W multi-range modules (MPS1101–MPS1104) that deliver rated power across a voltage/current curve, and 300 W fixed-range modules (MPS1301–MPS1304) that deliver higher power at a fixed voltage/current rating. Within each family, four voltage tiers are available: 15 V, 32 V, 60 V, and 100 V.
Because mainframes and modules are purchased separately and assembled by the user, the comparison below treats the mainframe choice and the module choice as two independent decisions. A 600 W mainframe can be populated with modules totaling more than 600 W — mainframe power allocation will limit the combined output to the mainframe's rated power, but individual module power limits can be adjusted to direct power where needed.
Each new MPS Series mainframe and module listed below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Mainframes and modules are sold as separate products and require user assembly per the manufacturer's documentation.
The mainframe choice between MPS1000 and MPS1001 is primarily a question of total available power and AC input. MPS1000 provides 600 W at a 100–240 VAC universal input. MPS1001 provides 1200 W but requires 180–240 VAC to deliver its full rated power; at lower input voltages, it operates as a 600 W mainframe. Both mainframes share identical four-slot architecture, identical interfaces (USB, LAN, GPIB), identical command response time (under 10 ms), and identical dimensions.
The module choice involves two axes. First, voltage tier: 15 V (high current — 20 A), 32 V (9.5 A), 60 V (5 A), or 100 V (3 A). Second, power architecture: multi-range 100 W modules (MPS11xx) deliver rated power across a voltage/current curve, while fixed-range 300 W modules (MPS13xx) deliver three times the power at the standard voltage/current rating. Most performance specifications — load regulation, line regulation, ripple/noise, programming accuracy, OVP/OCP ranges — are identical between matched 100 W and 300 W modules at the same voltage tier; the difference is rated output power.
