The Anritsu MP2110A BERTWave is an all-in-one bit error rate tester and sampling oscilloscope designed for evaluating multi-channel optical modules and devices. The instrument integrates a built-in BERT and a built-in sampling oscilloscope within a single mainframe, allowing simultaneous BER measurement at the receiver side of an optical module while analyzing the transmitter-side eye pattern. The MP2110A configuration supports up to 4-channel 28.2 Gbit/s BERT paired with up to 4-channel optical sampling oscilloscope capability, addressing the test requirements of 100G, 200G, and 400G optical transport.
According to the datasheet, the MP2110A supports physical-layer performance evaluation of 25G, 50G, 100G, 200G, and 400G optical transport modules, optical cables, and associated parts used by data centers, Core/Metro networks, 4G/5G mobile backhaul, and 5G mobile fronthaul. Supported transmission paths include Ethernet, eCPRI/RoE, CPRI, SDH/SONET, OTN, InfiniBand, and Fibre Channel. The datasheet lists supported optical transceiver module form factors including SFP28, QSFP28, CFP2/4/8, SFP56, QSFP56, OSFP, and QSFP-DD, as well as Active Optical Cables (AOC), Direct Attach Cables (DAC), and devices such as TOSA, ROSA, high-speed optical engines, PHY, and driver ICs.
ValueTronics International stocks, tests, and ships professional test and measurement equipment from a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Every {{CONDITION}} BERTWave system is handled through our in-house process before it leaves the building — not drop-shipped from a third-party broker. That direct control over inventory and verification is what separates ValueTronics from pass-through resellers, and it is the reason engineers working under commissioning deadlines rely on us to deliver instruments that arrive ready for the bench.
Anritsu Corporation is a Japanese precision measurement company with origins dating to 1895. Anritsu's position in high-speed digital and optical test was significantly expanded through its 1990s acquisition of the U.S. RF measurement company Wiltron, which gave Anritsu deeper presence in North American RF and microwave test markets. The BERTWave series sits within Anritsu's broader signal quality analyzer product line for optical and high-speed digital module characterization.
The BERTWave series consists of two mainframes — the MP2110A and the MP2100B — both built around the same all-in-one concept of integrating a BERT and a sampling oscilloscope into a single instrument for optical module and optical device evaluation. The datasheet positions the two models against different bit-rate tiers within the optical test market.
Per the datasheet, the MP2110A is positioned for 4ch evaluation at 100G/200G/400G with up to 28.2 Gbit/s per BERT channel, while the MP2100B is positioned for 4ch evaluation at 10G/40G with up to 12.5 Gbit/s per BERT channel. Both instruments share a common simplified GUI and compatible remote commands, which the datasheet notes makes production-line configuration easier because one program can be used for lines running at different bit rates.
Each pre-owned BERTWave model below is listed on its own dedicated ValueTronics product page with condition-matched pricing and full specifications. Use the comparison table to identify the right mainframe for your channel count and bit-rate requirement, then navigate to the individual model page for inventory status and ordering details.
The MP2110A is the higher bit-rate mainframe in the BERTWave series. Its BERT side supports operation up to 28.2 Gbit/s per channel across 1ch, 2ch, or 4ch configurations, and its sampling oscilloscope side supports configurations up to 4-channel optical. The datasheet specifies sampling oscilloscope bandwidths of 35 GHz SMF, 25 GHz MMF, and 40 GHz electrical, and lists PAM4 analysis with TDECQ and clock recovery support as a core capability — features that align with 100G, 200G, and 400G optical module characterization.
The principal difference between the two mainframes per the datasheet is the bit-rate tier each is designed to address. The MP2110A targets 100G/200G/400G evaluation with up to 28.2 Gbit/s BERT channels and supports both NRZ and PAM4 signals through its all-in-one sampling oscilloscope. The MP2100B targets 10G/40G evaluation with up to 12.5 Gbit/s BERT channels and is described in the datasheet as supporting bit rates from 125 Mbit/s to 12.5 Gbit/s for applications including InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, CPRI, OBSAI, and SDH/SONET.
The instruments also differ in sampling oscilloscope option structure. The MP2110A allows the sampling oscilloscope to be configured as Electrical 2ch, Electrical 1ch with Optical 1ch, Optical 1ch, Optical 2ch, or Optical 4ch. The MP2100B sampling oscilloscope is configured as Electrical 2ch, or Electrical 1ch with Optical 1ch. Refer to the comparison table for the side-by-side specification view.
