The Fluke IRR1-SOL is a handheld solar irradiance meter purpose-built for installing, testing, maintaining, and reporting on solar panels and photovoltaic systems. It combines irradiance measurement, temperature measurement, inclination sensing, and an integrated compass in a single rugged tool, allowing a solar installer or technician to capture the four most common site and panel measurements without switching instruments. The high-contrast LCD is designed to be read in direct sunlight, and the unit ships in a protective carrying case with a shoulder strap for field use.

The IRR1-SOL is used for photovoltaic system design and surveying, for measuring installed system performance, and for comparing and diagnosing arrays that are not producing expected output. In the design and surveying phase, the meter is used to determine actual solar irradiance in W/m² at a site and to account for shading when establishing a baseline solar resource. After installation, the irradiance reading is used together with electrical measurements to evaluate the current-voltage (IV) curve of the array. For arrays already in service, the meter provides the irradiance reference needed to verify whether the array is receiving the energy required to generate its rated DC voltage at the inverter input.

ValueTronics has been a trusted source for test and measurement equipment since 1992. Solar irradiance meters, like every instrument we sell, are stored and tested in our own 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois, before they ship. Our in-house technicians handle inspection, functional verification, and condition grading directly — equipment is not drop-shipped or pass-through brokered. When you order a Fluke IRR1-SOL from ValueTronics, the unit shipping to you is the unit our team has handled.

Brand Heritage

Fluke Corporation was founded in 1948 by John Fluke Sr. in Washington state and has been the dominant brand in handheld and field-portable electrical test instruments for decades. Fluke became a subsidiary of Danaher Corporation in 1998, and in 2016 Danaher spun off its industrial businesses — including Fluke — into Fortive Corporation, which remains Fluke's parent company today. The IRR1-SOL fits within Fluke's solar and renewable energy test product family.
