The HAMEG HM5005 / HM5006 is a spectrum analyzer covering a frequency range of 0.15 MHz to 500 MHz, presented as an instrument for analyzing any kind of signal within that range. Both models include a Scanwidth Selector that adjusts the frequency display width from 50 kHz to 50 MHz per division, and a 4-digit numeric LED readout that selectively displays either the center or the marker frequency. The HM5005 / HM5006 family comprises two spectrum analyzers that share the same 0.15 MHz to 500 MHz frequency range, the same –100 dBm to +13 dBm measurement range, and the same display, attenuator, and resolution-bandwidth architecture. Both include the Scanwidth Selector, the 4-digit center/marker frequency readout, the AM demodulator, earphone output, and 6 V close-field probe power.
The two models are distinguished by a single capability: the HM5006 incorporates a built-in tracking generator, while the HM5005 does not. In every other respect the instruments are specified identically.

The HM5006 is the model that carries the tracking generator — a frequency-synchronous source spanning 0.15 MHz to 500 MHz with an output adjustable from –50 dBm to +1 dBm, a 0 to 40 dB output attenuator, ±1.5 dB flatness, and a 50 Ω BNC female output — enabling the two-port network and filter passband measurements described for this configuration.
The principal difference across the family is the tracking generator, which is present on the HM5006 only. Because it provides a swept source synchronized to the analyzer, the HM5006 supports two-port measurements such as filter passband and network analysis; the HM5005 provides the same receiver-side spectrum analysis without that source.
