The FLIR T640 with 15° lens is a high-performance handheld infrared thermal imaging camera designed for thermographers requiring premium image quality and advanced measurement features. Built around a 640 × 480 pixel uncooled microbolometer focal plane array with a spectral range of 7.5–14 µm, the T640 captures detailed thermal images with a thermal sensitivity (NETD) below 30 mK at +30°C — fine enough to distinguish small temperature differentials across the scene. The unit pairs the 640 × 480 IR detector with a 5 Mpixel digital camera and a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, supported by an 800 × 480 pixel viewfinder for use in bright environments.
Applications follow directly from the T640's combined imaging and measurement capability set: detailed thermal inspection where 640 × 480 resolution matters, work where the Multi Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX) feature's enhanced detail presentation aids interpretation, and tasks requiring continuous auto-focus rather than manual focus adjustment. The camera's object temperature range spans −40°C to +2000°C across three switchable ranges (−40°C to +150°C, +100°C to +650°C, and +300°C to +2000°C), covering measurements from sub-ambient through high-temperature scenes. An optional high-temperature accessory extends measurement to +300°C to +2000°C. Measurement accuracy is specified as ±2°C or 2%, whichever is greater, at 25°C nominal.
FLIR Systems was founded in 1978 and grew into the global leader in commercial thermal imaging cameras. In May 2021, FLIR Systems was acquired by Teledyne Technologies, becoming part of Teledyne FLIR. The FLIR brand was preserved post-acquisition due to its market recognition, and the T-Series thermal imaging product line continues under the Teledyne FLIR organization.
