The FLIR DM62 and DM66 are True RMS digital multimeters built for electrical and field service work, combining a defined set of measurement functions, drop-tested construction, and a CAT IV-300V / CAT III-600V safety category rating. Both meters share the same compact form factor (161 × 80 × 50 mm, 334 g), the same 5 samples-per-second measuring rate, and the same core measurement set covering AC/DC voltage to 600 V, AC/DC current up to 10 A, resistance to 6 MΩ, and diode test to 3 V. The DM66 extends the DM62 feature set with capacitance, frequency, temperature, and low-impedance voltage measurement for technicians who need a more comprehensive single-instrument toolkit.

The DM62 is positioned for professionals and DIY users who need accurate AC/DC voltage and current measurement with True RMS response, non-contact voltage detection, and broad DMM test functions including variable-frequency drive (VFD) mode. The DM66 is positioned for commercial electricians, automation field service technicians, and electronics repair technicians who additionally need to measure frequency, capacitance, and temperature, and who benefit from low impedance (LoZ) mode to prevent ghost voltage from delivering false readings on modern wiring systems where capacitive coupling is common.

ValueTronics stocks the FLIR DM62 and DM66 multimeters in our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where every unit is processed by our in-house team before shipment. As a working test equipment distributor since 1992, we maintain inventory, condition documentation, and direct sales support so that customers ordering a handheld multimeter for electrical or field service work get the same accountability they would expect on a higher-ASP instrument purchase.

Brand Heritage

FLIR Systems was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2021, and the FLIR brand continues to be maintained under Teledyne FLIR for its established thermal imaging and test instrument product lines. The FLIR-branded handheld multimeters, including the DM62 and DM66, originated under FLIR Systems, Inc.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The DM62 and DM66 are a two-model family sharing a common chassis, common safety rating, and a common core measurement set covering AC/DC voltage and current, resistance, diode test, and continuity. The DM66 is the more fully featured variant in the family, adding measurement functions that the DM62 does not include.

Both meters target electrical and field service work, with the DM62 aimed at users whose measurement needs are covered by the shared core feature set and the DM66 aimed at users who additionally need capacitance, frequency, temperature, or low impedance voltage measurement in a single handheld.

Each model below is listed on its own product page with condition-matched pricing. Selecting a new unit of either the DM62 or DM66 means the page-specific price, availability, warranty terms, and accessory inclusions apply as listed on that model's page.

Within this two-model family, the choice between DM62 and DM66 is driven entirely by whether the additional DM66 measurement functions — capacitance, frequency, Type-K thermocouple temperature, and low impedance voltage — are needed for the application. The DM62 does not include these functions; the DM66 includes all of them, plus alligator clips in the box.

The DM62 and DM66 share identical specifications across AC/DC voltage (600 V), AC/DC current (10 A), AC/DC mA and µA ranges, resistance (6 MΩ), diode test (3 V), continuity check, VFD AC voltage mode, non-contact voltage detection, measuring rate, drop test, IP rating, safety category rating, physical size, weight, and warranty. The comparison table below makes these shared specifications visible alongside the DM66-only additions.

The DM66-only additions are capacitance measurement (200 nF to 10 mF), AC/DC low impedance voltage to 600 V, frequency counter to 50 kHz, and Type-K thermocouple temperature measurement covering -40°F to 752°F (or -40°C to 400°C). The DM66 also ships with alligator clips in addition to the standard silicone test leads included with both models.

Model AC/DC Volts Range LoZ Mode Capacitance
DM66 600.0 V Yes (600.0 V AC/DC LoZ) 200.0 nF to 10.00 mF
DM62 600.0 V No

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
