The B&K Precision DAQ3120 is a benchtop data acquisition system that combines a 6½-digit digital multimeter with a 3-slot modular data logger mainframe. The system provides signal conditioning and analog-to-digital conversion of 14 different input types in a compact form factor designed for acquiring, analyzing, and logging a wide range of physical measurements. A 4.3-inch TFT color display and intuitive user interface support both bench operation and integration into larger measurement workflows.

B&K Precision identifies research and development, industrial automation and process monitoring, environmental chamber monitoring, and component inspection as the primary applications for the DAQ3120. The seven selectable input modules let users tailor the mainframe to a specific application: high-speed solid-state scanning, multi-channel armature multiplexing with current inputs, high-density single-ended switching, 4Ă—8 matrix switching, multifunction digital and analog I/O, actuator/general-purpose relay control, and high-voltage/current measurement up to 600 VDC or 400 Vrms.

Brand Heritage

B&K Precision Corporation has provided test and measurement instruments for more than 70 years, with headquarters in Yorba Linda, California. Its European presence is established through its French subsidiary Sefram, and its Asian operations are anchored by B+K Precision Taiwan in Taipei. The company maintains an ISO 9001:2015-registered quality management system covering product development, service, and calibration.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The DAQ3120 family is built around a single mainframe with a 6½-digit DMM and three module slots, populated by any combination of seven plug-in modules. Configuration is driven by application requirements rather than by separate base-unit models: the choice of modules determines channel count, scanning speed, maximum voltage and current, and which DMM functions can be routed through the system.

The mainframe is available in two variants: the standard DAQ3120 with LAN and USB connectivity, and the DAQ3120-GPIB which adds an optional micro GPIB interface for legacy automated test systems. Both variants share the same 6½-digit DMM, the same 100 kpts non-volatile memory, the same 4.3-inch TFT color display, and the same module compatibility.

Each new DAQ3120 mainframe and module configuration listed below is its own product page with condition-matched pricing. Module compatibility, connectivity options, and measurement capability follow the published B&K Precision specifications for each part number in the family.

The DAQ3120 mainframe accepts up to three modules in any combination, with the DM300, DM301, DM303, and DM309 modules connecting to the built-in DMM and the DM304, DM307, and DM308 modules operating as dedicated switching, multifunction, or actuator modules independent of the DMM signal path.

Module differences across the family are organized along four dimensions printed in the DAQ3120 module overview: channel count and density (8 to 40 channels per module), scanning speed (60 to 450 channels per second on DMM-capable modules; non-scanning on dedicated switching modules), maximum voltage (42 V on the DM307 up to 600 VDC / 400 Vrms on the DM309), and supported DMM functions (the DM301 and DM309 cover the full set including AC/DC current; the DM300 omits current; the DM303 omits 4-wire resistance and thermocouples; the DM304, DM307, and DM308 do not connect to the built-in DMM).

The comparison table that follows lists each module by input type, channel count, scan rate, maximum voltage and current, bandwidth, thermal offset, and whether the module routes to the internal DMM, allowing the configuration that matches the application's voltage class, current measurement needs, and scanning throughput to be selected directly.

Model Channels Scan Rate Max Voltage
DAQ3120 Up to 120 (3 module slots) Up to 450 ch/s 600 VDC / 400 Vrms (with DM309)
DAQ3120-GPIB Up to 120 (3 module slots) Up to 450 ch/s 600 VDC / 400 Vrms (with DM309)

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input voltage on the DAQ3120 base unit is determined by the installed module: 120 V on the DM300, 300 V on the DM301/DM303/DM304/DM308, 42 V on the DM307, and 600 VDC / 400 Vrms on the DM309. The DM301 and DM309 current channels are protected by internal fuses (250 V, 2 A) and require the specified replacement type for continued protection.Important: Measurement modules are not included with the DAQ3120 or DAQ3120-GPIB base unit. Populate the base unit with any combination of up to 3 modules (DM300, DM301, DM303, DM304, DM307, DM308, DM309) to enable measurement functionality.Important: DM304, DM307, and DM308 modules do not connect to the built-in DMM.Important: Micro GPIB interface is only available on the DAQ3120-GPIB model.Important: Specifications apply to the unit after a temperature stabilization time of 1 hour over an ambient temperature range of 23 °C ± 5 °C.Important: DC Specification: In addition to the warm-up time, measurement settings must be set at 5/s speed with A-Zero enabled.Important: Optional Rackmount kit (RKDAQ) available separately.Usage tip: pair the DAQ3120 mainframe with the DM301 (20 channels + 2 current channels, 300 V, 1 A) or DM309 (8 channels + 2 current channels, 600 VDC / 400 Vrms, 2 A) when the application requires direct current measurement without external shunts, and add the DM307 multifunction module when digital I/O, totalizer counting, or programmable DAC outputs are needed alongside scanning.
