Teledyne LeCroy current probes measure current without breaking the circuit or inserting a shunt. Built on a combination of Hall effect and transformer technology, they are designed for accurate and reliable AC, DC, and impulse current measurements across a family of models that differ in continuous current rating, peak current, bandwidth, and sensitivity.
Teledyne LeCroy current probes are available in a variety of models for a wide range of applications. They are often used in applications such as the design and test of switching power supplies, motor drives, electric vehicles, and uninterruptible power supplies.

Teledyne LeCroy current probes are offered as a family of models covering a wide range of applications, from high-bandwidth low-current work to high-current measurements. The full range includes bandwidths up to 100 MHz, peak currents up to 700 A, and sensitivities to 1 mA/div.
All models in the family share the ProBus active probe interface, Hall-effect and transformer measurement technology, AC/DC/GND coupling, and 1% low-frequency accuracy, while differing in their current, bandwidth, and sensitivity ratings.

The models differ primarily in continuous current rating (30 Arms for the CP030/CP030A/CP031/CP031A, 150 Arms for the CP150, and 500 Arms for the CP500), peak current (50 Apeak, 500 Apeak, and 700 Apeak respectively), and bandwidth (100 MHz on the CP031/CP031A, 50 MHz on the CP030/CP030A, 10 MHz on the CP150, and 2 MHz on the CP500). Rise time and minimum sensitivity vary accordingly across the rows of the comparison table.
The CP030A and CP031A add 1 mA/div minimum sensitivity and a 1 V/A output range alongside the standard 0.1 V/A, whereas the CP030 and CP031 provide 10 mA/div minimum sensitivity at 0.1 V/A. Cable length also differs by model, and long-cable versions (CP030-3M, CP150-6M) carry their own bandwidth figures. See the comparison table for the exact value of each specification per model.

Important: Teledyne LeCroy current probes are powered through the ProBus connection and require no additional hardware, but they must be used with a Teledyne LeCroy oscilloscope that has a ProBus interface: CP03x, CP150, and CP500 probes (and their long-cable versions) require firmware version 4.3.1.1 or greater; CP03xA probes require X-Stream firmware version 7.8.x.x or later (compatible families include WaveSurfer Xs-A, MXs/MXs-A/MXs-B and 10, HDO4000/6000/8000/9000, MDA800, HRO/WaveRunner 6 Zi, WaveRunner 8000 and Xi/MXi families, WavePro/SDA/DDA 7 Zi, WaveMaster/SDA/DDA 8 Zi, and LabMaster 9 Zi-A).
Important: The CP030-3M and CP150-6M long-cable versions are not EMC compliant, and the Maximum Input Current vs. Frequency and Insertion Impedance performance shown does not apply to these models.
Important: The DCS025 Deskew Calibration Source provides time-aligned voltage and current signals for precise deskew of voltage and current probes; most voltage probes along with the 30, 150, and 500 A current probes are compatible with the DCS025.
