The Com-Power CGO-5100B is a radiated reference signal source designed for verifying EMI test sites and equipment used in emission measurements. Unlike a tunable signal generator, the comb generator radiates all of its harmonics simultaneously without any need for tuning, providing a known reference signal across a wide frequency span from a single, self-contained instrument.

Most EMC regulatory agencies require EMI laboratories to perform regular calibration of test equipment and test sites used for emission measurements, and many labs perform this formal calibration annually. The CGO-5100B is intended for the interim checks between those calibrations: test engineers use it to keep a regular log of radiated readings on their site, which can reveal a broken antenna, a bad cable, a blown preamplifier, or a poor RF connection that would otherwise go undetected. The comb generator can also be used to compare several test sites to determine the impact of the site on measurement data, and to assess the shielding effectiveness of enclosures and materials.

ValueTronics stocks and ships test and measurement equipment from our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every instrument we ship — new or pre-owned — is handled in-house by our own team rather than drop-shipped from a third party, which lets us verify what leaves the building and stand behind it after it arrives.
