The Keysight 85521A is a Type-3.5mm female 50Ω mechanical calibration kit covering DC to 26.5 GHz. The kit provides the Open, Short, Load, and Through standards required to perform a full vector network analyzer calibration at the 3.5mm female interface, with characterization data published for each standard so the kit can be defined within a VNA's calibration kit definition.
Calibration kits of this type are used to remove systematic measurement errors from vector network analyzer measurements at the test port reference plane. Before characterizing an RF component or device under test, an engineer connects each standard from the kit to the analyzer's test ports and runs the analyzer's calibration routine, which uses the published electrical characteristics of the standards to compute and apply error correction. The 85521A's DC-to-26.5 GHz coverage aligns it with VNA measurement applications across cellular, WiFi, radar S/C/X/K-band, and general RF component characterization.
Keysight Technologies was spun off from Agilent Technologies in 2014 to become the dedicated electronic measurement company carrying forward the test and measurement legacy that originated with Hewlett-Packard's instrument business. Calibration kits and VNA accessories carrying the Keysight brand are the direct continuation of the HP and Agilent calibration kit product lines that preceded them.
