The Agilent 6813B is a 1750 VA single-phase AC power source and analyzer combining the functions of a programmable AC power amplifier, arbitrary waveform generator, and 16-bit precision measurement system in a single instrument. It produces AC outputs to 300 V rms at up to 13 A rms (with 80 A peak repetitive and non-repetitive current), and also generates DC outputs to ±425 V at up to 10 A. The output frequency range covers DC and 45 Hz to 1 kHz, allowing the same instrument to address 50/60 Hz mains, 400 Hz avionics power, and DC bias requirements.

The datasheet positions this instrument for AC power testing across worldwide mains conditions, brownout and dropout simulation, line disturbance testing, harmonic emissions measurement, inrush current capture, ringer voltage (DC + AC) generation, UPS input/output characterization, and avionics testing under RTCA DO-160. Listed buyer environments include avionics and ATE test stations, computer products, consumer products, electrical products, lighting products, motors and electronic controllers, AC/DC adapters, PBX and uninterruptible power supplies, and telecom products such as RF amplifiers, CATV devices, multiplexers, routers, and switches.

Brand Heritage

The 6800 Series originated under Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business and carried the Agilent Technologies brand after HP's 1999 split, which placed the T&M and measurement product lines under the new Agilent name. In 2014, Agilent's electronic measurement business spun off as Keysight Technologies, where calibration and service continuity for legacy 6800 Series instruments now resides. Units bearing HP, Agilent, or Keysight branding on the same model number trace through this same lineage.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The 6800 Series AC Power Source/Analyzers are a three-model family of single-phase programmable AC sources with integrated 16-bit measurement: the 6811B at 375 VA, the 6812B at 750 VA, and the 6813B at 1750 VA. All three share the same architectural feature set — DC to 1 kHz output, transient generation, harmonic analysis to the 50th order, programmable output impedance, and the same protection structure — and differ principally in output power, current, and the AC mains input required to feed them.

Because the measurement, programming, and transient generation capabilities are common across the family, the model selection is driven primarily by the DUT's AC load profile: what RMS current and peak current must be sourced, what power level (VA) is required at the highest expected load condition, and whether the test site can supply the higher mains input that the larger 6813B requires.

Each pre-owned model below is its own dedicated ValueTronics product page with condition-matched pricing, verification documentation, and warranty coverage as listed on that page. Use the per-model links to evaluate the specific 6800 Series unit that matches the AC power and current envelope of your DUT.

Within the family, the 6813B is the high-power member at 1750 VA, 13 A rms, 80 A peak repetitive/non-repetitive current, and 1350 W DC. Its mains input requirement is 174–254 Vac only — it does not accept the 100/120 Vac input that the 6811B and 6812B will accept. The 6813B is the appropriate member of the family when the DUT requires the full 1750 VA envelope or when avionics, motor drive, and inverter testing must be done at currents the smaller models cannot deliver.

The comparison table that follows summarizes the headline differences across the three models: power (375 / 750 / 1750 VA), RMS current (3.25 / 6.5 / 13 A), peak current (40 / 40 / 80 A), crest factor (12 / 6 / 6), DC power (285 / 575 / 1350 W), DC current (2.5 / 5.0 / 10.0 A), and the available AC mains input ranges. The output voltage range (300 V rms, ±425 V DC), the frequency range (DC and 45 Hz to 1 kHz), the ripple/noise spec (-60 dB relative to full scale, 20 kHz to 10 MHz), and the THD performance (0.25% at 50/60 Hz; 1% worst case across 45 Hz to 1 kHz) are common to all three.

Programming and measurement accuracy specifications are identical across the three models for AC voltage and frequency, and nearly identical for DC voltage, with the 6813B specified at 0.5% + 0.3 V DC voltage programming versus 0.1% + 0.5 V on the 6811B and 6812B. Measurement accuracy on RMS voltage, current, power, frequency, and harmonics is shared across the family, so the selection question is principally a power-and-current sizing question for the DUT rather than a precision tradeoff between models.

Model Output Power RMS Voltage RMS Current
6811B 375 VA 300 V 3.25 A
6812B 750 VA 300 V 6.5 A
6813B 1750 VA 300 V 13 A

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input voltage / output configuration is model-dependent: the 6811B and 6812B accept 87–254 Vac line input (factory-default 100 Vac or 120 Vac depending on option), while the 6813B requires 174–254 Vac line input only. Verify line cord option and mains voltage before installation.Important: Product may be operated between dc and 45 Hz subject to certain deratings. Measurements may be extended to 4.5 Hz at full accuracy only by selecting a digitization rate of 250 µs per point. Frequency content of the measured signal must be limited to 4 kHz or less to avoid aliasing effects.Important: Select low measurement range for improved accuracy (10:1) for lower power measurements.Important: Support rails (p/n 12679B) are required when rack mounting the 6811B, 6812B, and 6813B with Option 1CM or Option 1CP.Important: Specifications are for a sine wave with a resistive load at 0° to 40°C, within an output frequency range of 45 Hz to 1000 Hz, and in ac coupled mode after a 30 minute warm-up unless otherwise noted.Recommended pairing: when full efficiency or UPS characterization is required, order with Option 020 Dual Power Analyzer so that source output and DUT output measurements remain inherently synchronized on the same instrument rather than across separate meters.
