The Agilent Infiniium 54830 Series is a family of digital storage and mixed-signal oscilloscopes built for engineers developing high-speed digital and communications designs. The series spans 600 MHz and 1 GHz bandwidth models in 2-channel, 4-channel, 2+16-channel, and 4+16-channel configurations, combining real-time scope acquisition with integrated logic timing channels on the mixed-signal versions. Every model in the family shares the same MegaZoom deep-memory architecture, the same Windows-based user interface, and the same advanced trigger set, so the selection decision comes down to bandwidth, channel count, and whether digital timing channels are required.

Engineers reach for the 54830 Series when they need to verify and debug embedded systems, characterize high-speed digital buses, and analyze the interaction between analog signals and digital control. The mixed-signal models are positioned for designs that include complex digital buses such as PCI or SDRAM, where the engineer needs to trigger on a specific bus condition and simultaneously view the analog characteristics of the data and clock lines. The data sheet also calls out communications mask testing against ITU-T G.703, ANSI T1.102, and IEEE 802.3 templates, Ethernet electrical compliance testing for 10BaseT, 100BaseT, and 1000BaseT, USB 2.0 signal-integrity compliance testing, and FPGA internal-signal probing for Xilinx devices as supported application areas through optional software.

ValueTronics International has been a trusted source for test and measurement instruments since 1992. Each Agilent 54830 Series oscilloscope handled by ValueTronics is processed through our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where our technicians inspect, test, and prepare every unit before it ships. We are not a drop-shipper or a pass-through broker; we hold the instruments we sell, we know their condition, and we stand behind them. Customers who need a 54830 Series scope can speak directly with a specialist who can confirm what is in inventory, what accessories are included, and what calibration options are available.

Brand Heritage

Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999. In 2014, Agilent's electronic measurement business was transferred to Keysight Technologies, which is the current corporate home for the Infiniium oscilloscope line. Instruments such as the 54830 Series that carry Agilent branding from this era continue to be supported through the Keysight service infrastructure.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The Agilent Infiniium 54830 Series is a family of eight oscilloscope models sharing a common platform: the same MegaZoom deep-memory architecture, the same Windows XP Pro user interface, the same advanced trigger set, and the same connectivity options. The models differ along three axes called out on the datasheet's specification page: analog bandwidth (600 MHz or 1 GHz), analog channel count (2 or 4), and whether 16 digital channels are included to make the instrument a mixed-signal oscilloscope.

All eight models share the same 4 GSa/s maximum interleaved sample rate (2 GSa/s per channel), the same 250 GSa/s equivalent-time sampling on repetitive signals, and the same memory-upgrade ladder reaching 128 Mpts interleaved through options 040, 080, 160, 320, and 640. The choice between models is driven by the customer's bandwidth requirement, the number of analog signals to view simultaneously, and whether digital bus debug is part of the application.

Each model below is its own product page with pre-owned-matched pricing, condition reporting, accessory listings, and warranty terms. Customers should select the page that matches both the model they need and the condition state they are working with.

The bandwidth split runs across the series: the 54830B, 54831B, 54830D, and 54831D are 600 MHz instruments with a calculated rise time of 583 ps, while the 54832B, 54833A, 54832D, and 54833D are 1 GHz instruments with a calculated rise time of 350 ps. The channel-count split separates 2-channel models (54830B, 54833A, 54830D, 54833D) from 4-channel models (54831B, 54832B, 54831D, 54832D). The MSO designation, indicated by the D suffix, adds 16 digital channels with their own trigger engine and threshold groupings to the base scope.

Standard acquisition memory is 2 Mpts per channel (4 Mpts interleaved) on every model except the 54833A, which starts at 500 kpts per channel (1 Mpts interleaved). All other specifications including sample rate, trigger set, measurement library, mask testing, FFT range, and connectivity are common across the family. The comparison table that follows summarizes the model-level differences side by side.

Model Bandwidth Analog Channels Digital Channels
54832B 1 GHz 4 0
54830D 600 MHz 2 16
54831D 600 MHz 4 16
54832D 1 GHz 4 16
