The BK Precision 4011A and 4010A are bench function generators that produce sine, square, triangle, pulse, and ramp waveforms for general-purpose electronics test and measurement work. The 4011A covers 0.5 Hz to 5 MHz across seven frequency ranges and includes a 4-digit LED frequency counter with coarse and fine tuning controls. The 4010A covers 0.2 Hz to 2 MHz across seven ranges with a dial-based frequency adjustment and ±5% typical dial accuracy.
A function generator creates the stimulus signals that engineers use to characterize, debug, and verify electronic circuits and systems. By generating a known sine, square, triangle, pulse, or ramp waveform at a specified frequency and amplitude, the generator provides the controlled input that makes a meaningful output measurement possible — pairing naturally with an oscilloscope, frequency counter, or analyzer on the bench.
ValueTronics International, LLC has supplied new and pre-owned electronic test and measurement equipment to engineers, technicians, and laboratories since 1992. All inventory is stored, inspected, and tested at our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois — giving customers a single accountable source for the 4010A and 4011A and their related accessories.
BK Precision is a long-established US-distributed test and measurement brand that has produced bench-grade instruments — including power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes, and meters — for several decades under the same brand name, with no major corporate identity changes in the test equipment line.
The BK Precision 4010A and 4011A are companion bench function generators sharing the same waveform set — sine, square, triangle, pulse, and ramp — and the same 50 Ω output architecture with 20 V peak-to-peak open-circuit drive, variable amplitude, variable DC offset, and continuously variable 15:85 to 85:15 duty cycle. Both include TTL and CMOS auxiliary outputs and a VCG input for external frequency control.
The two models differ in maximum frequency, frequency control method, and on-instrument frequency readout. The 4011A extends to 5 MHz with coarse-and-fine tuning and a 4-digit LED frequency counter; the 4010A covers up to 2 MHz with dial-based tuning and no integrated counter. Choose between them based on the highest signal frequency the application requires and whether direct numeric frequency readout is needed at the bench.
Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing and the appropriate documentation. Use the comparison below to confirm which model fits the application, then select the page that matches the configuration you need.
The 4011A is the higher-frequency, digitally-readout member of the pair: 0.5 Hz to 5 MHz across seven ranges, 4-digit resolution, coarse-and-fine tuning, a ±10 ppm timebase, and a built-in 4-digit LED frequency counter. Sine distortion is specified at ≤3% at 1 kHz and square-wave rise time at ≤20 ns.
The 4010A and 4011A share waveform set, output level, amplitude control, DC offset range, duty cycle adjustment, TTL/CMOS auxiliary outputs, VCG input behavior, and physical form factor. The principal differences are upper frequency (2 MHz vs. 5 MHz), tuning method (dial with ±5% typical accuracy vs. coarse-and-fine with 4-digit resolution), built-in frequency counter (absent vs. present), sine distortion at 1 kHz (≤4% vs. ≤3%), and square-wave rise time (≤120 ns on the 4010A vs. ≤20 ns on the 4011A).
The comparison table that follows lists these per-model specifications side by side so the right configuration can be selected based on the application's bandwidth, accuracy, and readout requirements.
