The Agilent 10070C, 10073C, and 10074C are general-purpose passive oscilloscope probes offered as a three-model family covering distinct bandwidth and attenuation requirements. The 10070C is a 1:1 attenuation probe with 20 MHz system bandwidth, the 10073C is a 10:1 attenuation probe with 500 MHz system bandwidth, and the 10074C is a 10:1 attenuation probe with 150 MHz system bandwidth. All three share a common mechanical platform, accessory kit, and environmental rating set.

These probes connect a device under test to a 1 MΩ oscilloscope input for time-domain voltage measurement. The 10073C 500 MHz model is positioned as a general-purpose 100 MHz, 10:1 passive probe within the E2697A 1 MΩ input adapter configuration, which allows the probe to be used with a 50 Ω oscilloscope input. Each probe in the family is supplied with the Agilent 5081-7690 accessory kit containing a retractable hook tip, ground bayonet, IC tip, adjustment tool, ground lead, and colored identification tags.

ValueTronics International has supplied new and pre-owned test and measurement equipment since 1992. Test, calibration, and inventory operations are performed at the company's 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, which gives buyers a single accountable source for probe procurement, condition-verified accessories, and post-sale support — rather than the variable assurance of a drop-shipper or pass-through broker.

Brand Heritage

Agilent Technologies was formed in 1999 as a spin-off of Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement, semiconductor products, and chemical analysis businesses. In 2014, Agilent's electronic measurement business was further separated and rebranded as Keysight Technologies. Probes carrying the Agilent brand mark are part of that lineage; service, documentation, and accessory continuity for these instruments now flow through the Keysight support infrastructure.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The 10070C, 10073C, and 10074C are positioned as a three-model passive probe family that shares a common mechanical platform, accessory kit, and environmental rating set while differing in three primary electrical dimensions: system bandwidth, attenuation ratio, and input loading. The family covers measurement requirements ranging from 20 MHz general-purpose 1:1 work through 500 MHz 10:1 probing on higher-bandwidth oscilloscopes.

Selection within the family is driven by the bandwidth of the oscilloscope channel the probe will be used on, the attenuation ratio appropriate to the signal level being measured, and the input loading the device under test can tolerate. The three models give the user a choice between a 1 MΩ / ~70 pF 1:1 probe (10070C), a 2.2 MΩ / ~12 pF 10:1 probe (10073C), and a 10 MΩ / ~15 pF 10:1 probe (10074C).

Each pre-owned model in the family is listed on its own product page with condition-matched pricing. The compare table below identifies the electrical differences across the three models so the correct part number can be selected for the intended oscilloscope and measurement configuration.

The three models differ along three primary axes. Bandwidth: 20 MHz on the 10070C, 150 MHz on the 10074C, and 500 MHz on the 10073C. Attenuation: 1:1 on the 10070C, 10:1 on both the 10073C and the 10074C. Input loading (when terminated into 1 MΩ): 1 MΩ with ~70 pF on the 10070C, 2.2 MΩ with ~12 pF on the 10073C, and 10 MΩ with ~15 pF on the 10074C.

Maximum input ratings, compensation ranges, and Probe Readout support also differ across the family. The 10070C is rated 400 Vpk CAT I / 400 Vpk CAT II, has no compensation range, and does not support Probe Readout. The 10073C is rated 500 Vpk CAT I / 400 Vpk CAT II, has a compensation range of 6 to 15 pF, and supports Probe Readout. The 10074C is rated 500 Vpk CAT I / 400 Vpk CAT II, has a compensation range of 9 to 17 pF, and supports Probe Readout.

Model System Bandwidth Attenuation Ratio Input Resistance
10074C 150 MHz 10:1 10 MΩ
10070C 20 MHz 1:1 1 MΩ
10073C 500 MHz 10:1 2.2 MΩ

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Maximum input ratings differ by model and category: the 10070C is rated 400 Vpk CAT I / 400 Vpk CAT II, while the 10073C and 10074C are rated 500 Vpk CAT I / 400 Vpk CAT II. The input voltage should not exceed the input voltage rating of the measuring instrument.Important: An E2697A 1 MΩ input adapter is required to use the 10073C probe with a 50 Ω oscilloscope. The E2697A includes one 10073C general purpose 100 MHz, 10:1 passive probe.Important: The input voltage should not exceed the input voltage rating of the measuring instrument.Important: Cleaning: If your probe requires cleaning, disconnect it from the instrument and clean it with mild detergent and water. Make sure the probe is completely dry before reconnecting it to the instrument.Important: BNC Adapter (item 7 of the 5081-7690 Accessory Kit) is not part of the kit and must be ordered separately as Agilent Part Number 5081-7705.Recommended pairing: the E2697A 1 MΩ input adapter is required to use the 10073C with a 50 Ω oscilloscope per the datasheet, and the E2697A ships with one 10073C general-purpose 100 MHz, 10:1 passive probe.
