The Agilent E4418B and E4419B are EPM Series power meters for measuring average RF and microwave power. The E4418B is a single-channel instrument and the E4419B is a dual-channel instrument, and both operate with Agilent E-Series and 8480 Series average power sensors over power and frequency ranges that depend on the sensor selected. Together a meter and a compatible sensor form a calibrated average-power measurement system, with the meter automatically reading the calibration-factor data stored in the sensor and applying it to the measurement.
Application coverage spans continuous-wave (CW) and modulated signals, including wireless-standard formats such as GSM, EDGE, NADC, IDEN, cdmaOne, cdma2000, W-CDMA, Bluetooth, 802.11a/b/g, HiperLan2 and WiMAX, as well as pulse and averaged radar and navigation signals, AM/FM-profiled and mobile-radio measurements, and metrology-lab work. The sensor technology is matched to the signal type, with thermocouple sensors, diode sensors, extended-range compensated diode sensors and two-path diode-stack sensors each addressing specific measurement scenarios.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, which lets us ship EPM Series meters and matched sensors quickly from our own shelves. Every used unit we sell is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
This product line carries the Agilent Technologies name. Agilent was established in 1999 when Hewlett-Packard spun out its test-and-measurement business as a separate company, and in 2014 that electronic-measurement business was renamed Keysight Technologies.
The EPM Series is built around two power meters that share a common measurement architecture and sensor compatibility: the single-channel E4418B and the dual-channel E4419B. Both read calibration-factor data directly from Agilent E-Series and 8480 Series average power sensors and cover the same sensor-dependent frequency and power ranges, so the choice between them is driven primarily by how many measurement channels the application requires.
Because the two meters use the same internal power reference, the same averaging and resolution settings and the same SCPI-based remote interfaces, a measurement workflow developed on one transfers directly to the other, with the dual-channel model adding simultaneous two-channel display and ratio/difference measurements.
Each pre-owned model below is listed as its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the channel configuration that fits your bench, then choose the pre-owned unit that matches your budget and availability requirements.
The principal difference between the two models is channel count: the E4418B measures a single channel, while the E4419B measures two channels and can simultaneously display combinations such as A, B, A/B, B/A, A-B and B-A. The E4419B also provides dedicated channel-A and channel-B recorder outputs on the rear panel.
Remote-programming compatibility differs as well: the E4418B is 436A and 437B code compatible, while the E4419B is 438A code compatible, with both using SCPI as the standard command set. Measurement speed also reflects the channel count, with the single-channel E4418B reaching a typical maximum of 200 readings/second in Fast mode and the dual-channel E4419B reaching approximately 100 readings/second with both channels in Fast mode. The comparison table below summarizes these per-model differences.
| Model | Channels | Max Measurement Speed | GPIB Code Compatibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| E4419B | 2 | 100 readings/second (both channels Fast mode) | 438A |
| E4418B | 1 | 200 readings/second (Fast mode) | 436A/437B |
| E4418B | 1 | 200 readings/second (Fast mode) | 436A/437B |

Important: Fast measurement-speed mode is available only with E-Series power sensors.
Important: Specifications describe the instrument's warranted performance and apply after a 30-minute warm-up, are valid over the operating/environmental range unless otherwise stated, and apply after performing a zero and calibration procedure.
Important: Power sensors are not included with the power meter and must be ordered separately. The EPM Series meters operate with Agilent E4410 and E9300 E-Series, 8480 Series, and N8480 Series average power sensors selected for the required frequency and power range.
Important: For Option E441XB-001, the 36-month warranty does not apply to the E9287A battery pack.
Recommended pairing: operate this meter with Agilent E4410/E9300 E-Series or 8480 Series average power sensors, connected using the 11730-series power sensor cables listed in the ordering information.
