The Agilent 8920A RF Communications Test Set is a full-featured, one-box test set designed to meet the service and repair needs of the RF wireless communications market. The instrument consolidates the functions of more than 20 complete instruments into a single portable, lightweight chassis, providing transmitter and receiver testing capability through a single-keystroke interface.
The 8920A is applied to RF radio service and repair, cellular phone test, and trunked radio test. For cellular phone applications, the call processing interface emulates a base station and automatically establishes and maintains a cellular link with an analog cellular phone. The signaling capability supports tone sequential, digital paging formats including CCITT, POCSAG, and ZVEI, DTMF, trunking, and cellular signaling, making the unit applicable to LTR, EDACS, MPT 1327, AMPS/EAMPS/NAMPS, TACS/ETACS, NMT 450/900, and JTACS/NTACS radio test when configured with the appropriate options.
Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement division was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and Agilent's electronic measurement business was subsequently separated as Keysight Technologies in 2014. The 8920A was originally introduced under Hewlett-Packard branding and continued under Agilent, which is reflected in the cover-page tagline 'Innovating the HP Way' that appears on this datasheet.
