The Extech 407760 is a USB-based sound level datalogger designed for unattended acoustic measurement and recording. The instrument combines a 0.5-inch electret microphone, integrated datalogging electronics, and a built-in USB connector in a compact handheld form factor measuring 5.1 x 1.1 x 0.9 inches and weighing 1 ounce. It is designed to meet ANSI and IEC 61672 Class 2 standards for sound level meters.
The 407760 captures sound level readings across a 30 to 130 dB measurement range and a 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz frequency range, with both A-weighting and C-weighting selectable to match common acoustic measurement protocols. Response time is selectable between Fast (125 ms) and Slow (1 s) to suit the dynamics of the sound source under measurement. Basic accuracy is specified at ±1.4 dB.
ValueTronics International stocks and supports the Extech 407760 from our 20,000 square foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive, Elgin, Illinois. Unlike drop-ship resellers, units leaving our facility are inspected and prepared by our in-house team before shipment, with full ValueTronics support standing behind the sale.
Extech Instruments has operated as a subsidiary of FLIR Systems since 2007, and FLIR was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2021. Extech-branded test and measurement instruments continue to be produced and supported under the Teledyne FLIR corporate umbrella.
The Extech 407760 is offered as a single instrument configuration with one variant differentiated by calibration documentation. The base 407760 ships with the unit and standard accessories; the 407760-NISTL adds a single-point NIST calibration certificate at the time of shipment.
Both configurations share identical hardware, measurement specifications, datalogging capacity, and included accessories. The difference is the calibration documentation supplied with the unit at delivery.
Each new configuration below links to its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing and current availability. Select the variant that matches your documentation requirements at the time of receipt.
The 407760 base configuration is the standard choice when calibration documentation is not required at receipt or will be obtained separately. The 407760-NISTL is the correct selection when a single-point NIST-traceable calibration certificate is needed alongside the instrument from day one — common in regulated environments, formal acoustic surveys, and quality system contexts where traceable documentation must accompany the instrument.
Refer to the comparison table for the specific differences between the two configurations.
