The Agilent 34410A and 34411A are 6½-digit digital multimeters positioned as the next generation of benchtop and system multimeters from Agilent Technologies. Building on the installed base of the Agilent 34401A, these meters add improved accuracy, expanded measurement capability, faster reading speed and throughput, and modern computer interfaces. Each unit ships with a dual display that supports both dual measurement viewing and easier setup, along with LAN, USB, and GPIB connectivity standard.
An oscilloscope shows voltage over time; a digital multimeter measures discrete electrical quantities — voltage, current, resistance — with the accuracy and stability that engineering decisions and calibration work depend on. The 34410A and 34411A serve both roles a 6½-digit DMM is typically asked to fill: a precision benchtop instrument for design and characterization work, and a fast system DMM for automated test environments. The datasheet positions these meters for both bench and system use, with the 34411A adding higher-speed acquisition for waveform-style measurement applications.
ValueTronics International has stocked, tested, and shipped professional test and measurement instruments since 1992 from our 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois. Every used instrument we list passes through technician inspection and performance verification in that facility before it is graded and made available — which is what allows us to publish specific condition reports and back our pre-owned units with a ValueTronics warranty rather than the seller-description approach typical of marketplace listings.
Hewlett-Packard's test and measurement business was spun off as Agilent Technologies in 1999, and Agilent's electronic measurement division was subsequently transferred to Keysight Technologies in 2014. Instruments originally released under the Agilent brand — including the 34410A and 34411A multimeter family — trace their support, calibration, and software ecosystem through this lineage to the current Keysight organization.
The 34410A and 34411A share a common platform: 6½-digit resolution, 30 ppm 1-year basic DC accuracy, the same measurement function set, the same dual display, and the same standard LAN, USB, and GPIB interfaces. Both are LXI Class C compliant and both ship with the same accessory bundle and software set.
The difference between the two models is acquisition speed, memory depth, and triggering. The 34410A is the high-performance model intended for benchtop precision work and standard system use. The 34411A is the enhanced-performance model that adds the higher reading rate, expanded volatile memory, analog level triggering, and pre- and post-trigger control needed for waveform-style capture and higher-throughput characterization.
Each pre-owned model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing and availability. Use the comparison below to identify which model matches the measurement requirement, then click through to the model page for the configuration details, accessories, and current options.
The 34410A delivers the speed envelope most benchtop and standard system DMM applications need: 10,000 readings per second at 5½ digits direct to a host PC, 1,000 readings per second at full 6½-digit resolution, and 50,000 readings of non-volatile data logger memory. Trigger latency and trigger jitter are each below 1 µs and bus query response is under 500 µs, which the datasheet identifies as the baseline that makes the meter suitable for fast system throughput applications.
The 34411A extends the 34410A's reading rate to 50,000 readings per second at 4½ digits direct to PC. It adds 1 million readings of volatile memory on top of the 50,000-reading non-volatile data logger memory shared with the 34410A. Triggering on the 34411A is programmable pre- and post-, with analog level triggering and a 19.9524 µs timebase resolution that the 34410A does not provide.
For applications that need to capture low-frequency waveforms, characterize device performance with high sample density, or stream large reading sets to a host computer for analysis, the datasheet positions the 34411A as the right model. For applications where 6½-digit accuracy and 10,000 readings per second at 5½ digits are sufficient — which describes most precision bench and standard system test work — the 34410A is the model the datasheet positions for that use.
| Model | Digits | Max Reading Rate | Volatile Memory |
|---|---|---|---|
| 34411A | 6½ | 50,000 readings/s @ 4½ digits | 1,000,000 readings |
