The Keithley Series 2280S Precision Measurement, Low Noise, Programmable DC Power Supplies combine a clean linear-regulated DC source with built-in precision measurement capability. Two models are offered: the 2280S-32-6 outputs 0 to 32 V at up to 6 A, and the 2280S-60-3 outputs 0 to 60 V at up to 3.2 A. Both deliver up to 192 W from a single output and use linear regulation to keep output noise low and load current readback sensitive enough for nanoamp-level measurements.
Series 2280S supplies are positioned for applications that benefit from both stable low-noise power delivery and integrated measurement. Per the datasheet, they suit characterization and testing of portable, battery-operated devices where multiple operating modes (sleep, standby, active) must be measured; capture of power-up and power-down load sequences; and dynamic load current measurement on rapidly changing or pulse-like loads. The instruments are also presented as flexible enough for both benchtop work and automated test system integration.
Keithley Instruments was founded in 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio and built its reputation around precision low-level electrical measurement. Keithley operates as part of Tektronix; the datasheet and corporate identity reflect this as 'Keithley Instruments, A Tektronix Company.' Tektronix in turn is part of the Fortive Corporation group of industrial businesses.
The Series 2280S family consists of two precision-measurement programmable DC power supplies that share the same architecture, user interface, measurement capability, communications, and form factor. Both models deliver 192 W of linear-regulated low-noise output, integrate voltage and current measurement to 6½-digit resolution, and offer the same trigger, list mode, graphing, and protection features.
The two members of the family are differentiated primarily by their voltage and current envelopes: the 2280S-32-6 emphasizes higher current at lower voltage, while the 2280S-60-3 emphasizes higher voltage at lower current. The maximum output power is the same on both models, so the choice depends on the voltage and current profile of the device under test rather than on overall wattage.
Each model in the Series 2280S family is its own dedicated product page on ValueTronics, with condition-matched pricing for pre-owned units. Configurations, documentation, and accessories are listed per product page so that the buyer sees what is in inventory for the specific model selected.
The 2280S-32-6 and 2280S-60-3 differ in their output ratings and in several of the specifications that scale with output range. The 2280S-32-6 is rated 0 to 32 V at 0 to 6 A; the 2280S-60-3 is rated 0 to 60 V at 0 to 3.2 A. Voltage source-setting accuracy is ±(0.02% + 3 mV) on the 32 V model and ±(0.02% + 6 mV) on the 60 V model. Output ripple and noise (20 Hz–20 MHz) is specified as less than 1 mVrms / 5 mV peak-to-peak on the 32 V model and less than 2 mVrms / 7 mV peak-to-peak on the 60 V model.
Overvoltage protection setting accuracy and resolution also scale with the voltage range, and the controlled high-slew-rate operating envelopes differ between the two models as noted in the datasheet. The comparison table that follows lists the side-by-side ratings so the buyer can match the model to their DUT voltage and current requirements; current measurement ranges, resolution, accuracy, and digital I/O behavior are identical across the family.
| Model | Output Voltage | Output Current | Maximum Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2280S-32-6 | 0 to 32 V | 0 to 6 A | 192 W |
| 2280S-60-3 | 0 to 60 V | 0 to 3.2 A | 192 W |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.
