The R&S AMU200A is a baseband signal generator and fading simulator that brings together the functionality of a realtime I/Q source, an arbitrary waveform generator, and a channel simulator in a single unit. It was devised for testing at the baseband level, where modular communications designs are validated at the module stage before integration into the complete product or system.
Its listed applications include multistandard signal generation for baseband and RF module tests, channel and interference simulation, RX and TX diversity tests, I/Q modulator tuning, hardware simulation of baseband chips, and bit and block error ratio measurement. With the optional two-path functionality, it can reproducibly simulate interference, noise, multipath propagation, and antenna diversity, and determine their effect on a device under test with a single unit.

Important: The base unit must be ordered with the AMU-B13 option plus one option out of AMU-B9, AMU-B10, AMU-B11, or AMU-B17.

Important: The SCPI commands for controlling the R&S AMU200A baseband functions are compatible with those of the R&S SMU200A, R&S SMJ100A, and R&S SMATE200A.
Recommended pairing: combine the AMU200A as a baseband fading simulator with the R&S CMU200A radiocommunication tester for mobile phone testing with faded RF signals including signaling.
