The Extech DCP36 is an 80W switching-mode DC power supply built on a constant-power topology with autoranging voltage and current output. It is a compact, lightweight unit that supplies a regulated 0.5 to 36 V at 0 to 5 A, with the available voltage and current trading off against one another to stay within the 80 W maximum output (E × I ≤ 80 W). Front-panel control is handled through dual 4-digit LED displays, with the lower display configurable to read either current or watts.
A DC power supply delivers controlled, regulated power to a device under test, letting an engineer set a known voltage and current and observe how the device behaves. The DCP36's compact slim tower housing is designed for tight workbenches with limited space, and its light weight makes it easy to move between benches. Upper voltage and current limit settings let the operator bound the output to protect the Unit Under Test (UUT) during powered testing.
