The DSA8200 is a single sampling-oscilloscope mainframe whose measurement capability is defined by the plug-in modules installed in its six slots. Tektronix offers families of electrical sampling modules, true-differential TDR modules, multirate optical modules, clock-recovery modules, and accessory modules, so one mainframe can be configured for electrical, optical, TDR, and serial-data-link work. The DSA8200 supports long record-length acquisitions — up to 1,000,000 points with IConnect and up to 3,200,000 points with 80SJNB Jitter, Noise, and BER Analysis software — and provides the communications-tailored measurement set for serial data, TDR, and signal-integrity work.

Within the electrical sampling module family, bandwidth ranges from 20 GHz (80E03, 80E04) through 30 GHz (80E07, 80E08) up to 50, 60, and 70+ GHz (80E01, 80E09, and 80E06 respectively), with the corresponding step-response rise times and RMS-noise figures shown in the comparison table. The 80E07, 80E08, 80E09, and 80E10 use fully integrated 2-meter remote samplers, while the 80E01, 80E03, 80E04, and 80E06 can use an optional 80N01 2-meter extender cable. The 80E10, 80E08, and 80E04 add true-differential TDR step generation for impedance and S-parameter characterization.

The optical sampling modules differ by supported data rate and wavelength coverage: the 80C07B covers 155 Mb/s to 2.5 Gb/s, the 80C08C, 80C11, and 80C12 address rates around 10 Gb/s, the 80C14 extends to 14 Gb/s, and the 80C10B and 80C25GBE cover 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s testing.
