The Tektronix TDS7000 Series is a family of Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes built for verification, debug, and characterization of sophisticated electronic designs. The series combines high-performance signal acquisition with operational simplicity and open connectivity to the design environment. Classic analog-style front-panel controls, a large touch-sensitive color display, and graphical menus give engineers intuitive control, while open access to the Microsoft Windows operating system enables extensive customization and extensibility.
An oscilloscope captures and displays electrical signals as waveforms—voltage plotted against time—so an engineer can see a signal's amplitude, timing, and shape. Within that role, the TDS7000 Series is applied to jitter and timing analysis, spectral analysis, disk drive analysis, and the investigation of transient phenomena, alongside the verification, debug, and characterization work the family is designed around.
ValueTronics supports this purchase from our own 20,000-square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our inventory on hand. Every used unit is inspected and functionally verified in-house before it ships, while new units ship factory-sealed exactly as received from the manufacturer.
The Tektronix TDS7000 Series brings together signal acquisition performance, operational simplicity, and open connectivity in a family of Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes aimed at verification, debug, and characterization of sophisticated electronic designs. Models range from 500 MHz to 4 GHz of analog bandwidth with single-shot sample rates to 20 GS/s, meeting the demands of high-speed logic families and multi-gigabit communication standards.
Shared across the family are classic analog-style controls, a 10.4-inch touch-sensitive display, an open Microsoft Windows environment, built-in networking, and 3rd-generation DPX technology for high waveform capture rates. The models differ chiefly in bandwidth, sample rate, and available acquisition memory, as detailed in the comparison below.
Each pre-owned model in the series below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the bandwidth tier that fits your application to see that pre-owned unit's availability and price.
The three models share four input channels but step through distinct bandwidth tiers: the TDS7054 at 500 MHz, the TDS7104 at 1 GHz, and the TDS7404 at 4 GHz. Single-shot real-time sample rate scales with the tier as well—up to 5 GS/s, 10 GS/s, and 20 GS/s respectively at one channel—while equivalent-time sampling reaches 250 GS/s on all three.
Acquisition memory options also differ: the standard memory and Option 1M/2M/3M upgrades apply across the family, while the 32-Megasample Option 4M is available on the TDS7404 only. The TDS7404 further differs in its front end—it uses a 50 Ω input and the TekConnect signal interconnect system in place of the 1 MΩ/50 Ω BNC inputs found on the TDS7054 and TDS7104. The comparison table that follows lists the per-model values.
| Model | Bandwidth | Max Sample Rate | Rise Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| TDS7404 | 4 GHz | 20 GS/s | 100 ps |
| TDS7054 | 500 MHz | 5 GS/s | 800 ps |
| TDS7104 | 1 GHz | 10 GS/s | 400 ps |
Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: At the time of this datasheet, the TDS7404 4 GHz model was not yet available for ordering ("Ordering information coming soon").
Important: Passive probes are included only with the TDS7054 (four P6139A 500 MHz 10x probes). The TDS7104 ships without probes, and the TDS7404 ships with four TekConnect-to-SMA (TCA-SMA) adapters only — appropriate probes for the TDS7104 and TDS7404 must be ordered separately (see Probe Options / Recommended Accessories).
Important: A USB keyboard is not included in the standard accessories; order separately (Tektronix 119-6297-00).
Important: Maximum Input Voltage, 1 MΩ: ± 150 V CAT I, derate at 20 dB/decade to 9 VRMS above 200 kHz (TDS7054/TDS7104). On the TDS7404, the 50 Ω input maximum voltage is determined by the TekConnect accessory used.
